Rosie's second litter!
Well, I guess my Rosie is just a small litter critter cause once again.. she's popped out 6 beautiful little babies! Same size as last time. I'll get some pics in a few days... I want her to rest with them and eat lots before I start bugging her for a photo shoot. LOL
-
Re: Rosie's second litter!
Congrats on the new litter, and shame on you for not having some pics. But I guess I can forgive you since you share soo many others. ;)
-
Re: Rosie's second litter!
oh gee thanks... i promise when this head cold passes... i'll take some!
-
Re: Rosie's second litter!
You sick too?! Cool, make some room on that :couch:. I've been fighting a virus that my loving daughter shared with me. If I don't make any sense I'm blaming the fever. Heck I might just pass out on the keyboard.
-
Re: Rosie's second litter!
oh man... we can whine together then! my head feels like it's going to explode and i have to teach tonight.
uuuugggghhhhhhhhh move over. stop hogging the blankee. i'm too hot. i'm cold... move over... i want chocolate covered oreos.
-
Re: Rosie's second litter!
I'm freezing here. Fingers going numb, and typing is the only thing keeping them from freezing solid. ;) This poor site might want tuck us in some corner until we're 'normal' again. Hey stop hogging all the good meds. :evileye:
-
Re: Rosie's second litter!
let go of my leg! i am trying to get comfy. i am trying feel better but you keep kicking me and tugging on the covers...
*off whining and muttering*
-
Re: Rosie's second litter!
Well I can't help it if it's so freaking cold, and you definitely have more than your share of the blanket. Maybe we can get some nice person to bring us some chicken soup or something.
*off whining loudly*
-
Re: Rosie's second litter!
*sniffle* *cough* i'm so stubbed ub. my kidneys hurt too. here... i made us some homemade chicken soup with rice. i'll trade you a bowl for 3 more inches of covers.
-
Re: Rosie's second litter!
Ack you two! You are bringing out my never very dormant mothering instincts! *runs about tucking in, grabbing more blankies, finding just the right DVD's, making soup and soft eggs and toast soldiers, hollering for someone to hit the store for more juice, gingerale and meds, handing out kleenex boxes and upchuck buckets, kissing foreheads and stuffing everyone into flannel jammies and socks all the while muttering "poor thing, poor thing, germs are rotten aren't they"!*

Re: Rosie's second litter!
I'm sick too! Any room there for me? Can't breath, sore throat, that thingy that hangs down in the back of your mouth is swollen and touching my tongue and I'm miserable. In a few days, I'll be hacking up a lung, once all that congestions migrates downward. Mucinex - here I come!
Oh, and I can't find a good decongestant to allow me to breath!
***whine!!!!!!***
Can you get a flu shot when you're sick? Our office is administering free flu shots next week.
-
Re: Rosie's second litter!
Ack you poor thing! Best to ask about that Robin. I know with children most doctors won't allow shots if they have a cold or any chest congestion or fever, so ask first hon for your own good. Hope you all feel much better soon. Sounds like it's time for (brace yourselves)....Buckley's!
-
Re: Rosie's second litter!
You're always welcome on our :couch: Robin! You just might want to bring an extra blanket!!
Yeah Jo's here, but keep your Buckley's to yourself! :bleh: Although I think I'll still trade 3 inches of blanket for some of that soup Aleesha... :hungry:
-
Re: Rosie's second litter!
oh thank goodness... jo is here. i'm already feeling less stuffy with her pampering me in the fashion that i dream for :wuv:
robin... i'll just warn you... christie is a blankee HOG so when she says to bring your own... make sure you do!
jo... can i have a home made egg nog? my mom used to make them when i was little, whenever i was sick. :(
christie, i saved some soup for ya... and there's enough for robin as well. but, alas, none for jo... sorry jo a saints work is never done and often is underpaid! :P
-
Re: Rosie's second litter!
Well, on my way there, I'm stopping at the liquor store. My co-worker swears that Peppermint Schnapps will clear us right up - at this point - I'm willing to give anything a shot (no pun intended) - and if it doesn't help - it will make us feel better!
Do I need to bring a blankie big enough for all three of us? How about some kleenex with aloe lotion?
-
Re: Rosie's second litter!
well i use home made flannel hankies... so no dead trees for me :P
well, i don't drink but i think i'll take a shot or two of that 'medicine'... but please... no body shots! i can't put my head down to do anything... too stuffy...
i brought my own blankee... so you can share with 'little miss feet in your back and tuggin on the blankets christie!'

I'll have you know I'm a very good snuggler! I love those aloe and lotion in the tissues!! They're wonderful. I think I need another nap. Sheesh, we're sad. A whole thread that is a total whine-fest. Maybe we should get some cheese to with all this whine. ha ha... (my lame attempt at humor  )
-
Re: Rosie's second litter!
what you call snuggling... i call "in MY space" LOL so get out of my space! i'm cranky, sick and my head feels like it's going to explode. and i'm bored out of my mind....
oh man.... i can't even whine well today :(
-
Re: Rosie's second litter!
here we are... our own https://ball-pythons.net/gallery/files/2/5/4/7/wub.gifunique https://ball-pythons.net/gallery/files/2/5/4/7/wub.gif
form of snuggling. (sorry robin i don't have a third kitten to toss in the mix - but just imagine yourself on the bottom - since that's the warmest spot!)
https://ball-pythons.net/gallery/fil.../7/sickies.jpg
-
Re: Rosie's second litter!
I'll take the bottom - I will say that the Peppermint Schnapps has done nothing but make me loopy - I'm still congested, and that's $10 that could have been better spent - but at 100 proof, I won't be caring much longer! LOL
Thank goodness I picked up some Sudafed and some Niqyl (however the heck you spell it!).
Now, do I want a Red Baron's personal pizza, some beef stew, or some fish sticks?
-
Re: Rosie's second litter!

That's got to be some pretty weird smelling soap - but why would you eat it? Have you been saying wordy dirds again, Leesha?????
-
Re: Rosie's second litter!
-
Re: Rosie's second litter!
I think the soap was an appetizer. ;) I will make some room on the coach, as I'm feeling mostly better. Anyone need anything while I'm up? It sounds like we'll have to keep our eye on Robin. No more booze for you. lol
-
Re: Rosie's second litter!
oh man i just seem to be getting sicker and sicker... anyone wanna get me something to eat? i have no appetite but i'm starving...
-
Re: Rosie's second litter!
I'd be more than happy to feed you, you poor thing. :petting: I'll even hunt down some recovery chocolate covered oreos. ;)
-
Re: Rosie's second litter!
thanks... nothing sweet - i need something yummy... i want some really good pizza but they don't deliver (small town) - oh well... i'll just sit here https://ball-pythons.net/gallery/fil...4/7/stupid.gif and whimper cause i'm a complete suck right now.
i had a bath, and that helped.

Re: Rosie's second litter!
how's everyone feeling today?
i think i'm getting better... although i still can't stand up for more than a minute... i'll take those cookies today though ;)
-
Re: Rosie's second litter!
I'm definitely better. Now if only I the kids would sleep through the night. :evileye: My son had night terrors as a kids, but mostly grew out of them. He had one last night, which was not cool. In addition, my daughter got up about 4 times. What's a woman got to do to get a full night's sleep?!?!?!
I'm sorry your still feeling under the weather. I'll start the oreo hunt today!! ;)
-
Re: Rosie's second litter!
well now smulkin has got me fixated on nutello... i want to smear some on a cookie - he suggests choc. chip! who knew you could put that stuff on cookies?
-
Re: Rosie's second litter!
I'm still suffering no air through the nostrils and Karl woke up about four in the morning moaning "ohhhhh, my throat is sore - I KNEW you were going to make me sick!" <snuffle, snuffle>
I have to admit, it did make me giggle - however, now this mucus is draining into my lungs, and I fear I'm going to be dealing with a deep bronchial cough going into next week (I have a history of pnuemonia and bronchitis).
I absolutely LOATHED that peppermint schnapps though - nasty stuff!
-
Re: Rosie's second litter!
oh i'm so sorry you are suffering and i sure hope it doesn't turn to pneumonia!
i'm still totally stuffy. weak and less whiney.
-
Re: Rosie's second litter!
well i just went in to check on rosie's babies... there are only 5 that survived. she has some of the 'red tears' and i think it's because she's stressed over this litter. she isn't her usual friendly self this time around. she snaps at anyone who comes near her cage.
so i gave her a couple of silkworms to wash down her pizza and left her alone. the pups all look great. one is a tiny bit smaller... but otherwise all is well.
-
Re: Rosie's second litter!
Awww, does that mean no pictures. :( I'm sorry she's so stressed.
-
Re: Rosie's second litter!
ya that's what that means. i held the babies to check on them and count them. i could see the 'red tears' and immediately came on the net to do a search. i've noticed she's really stressed so when i saw stress can cause them, i wasn't surprised. she never lost the weight this time, that she did with her last litter which is very good, so i'm not concerned about her health.
her 'mate' is dieing though. he's almost 2 years old. i really believe she knows it and that's making her sadder as well. (he doesn't live here.)
i am going to watch her and my other ratties closely to make sure they stay healthy, just in case what ricardo rodente' is dieing from is not old age.
-
Re: Rosie's second litter!
i have some very sad news. my friend's male rat... ricardo rodente' passed away this afternoon. oddly... rosie our mama rat has been so sad the whole time he's been sick - it's like she could feel him slipping away. she sooooo adored him. she'd sleep with him instead of in her hammock whenever he came over for a sleep over party.
we are blessed to have this litter... of his pups and we'll be keeping a little male out of this litter.
rick was, by far... the most friendly rattie i've ever met. he was HUGE and sweet.
goodbye little guy... we love you!
-
Re: Rosie's second litter!
How sad. Please send my condolences to your friend.
-
Re: Rosie's second litter!
and finally... some pics of rosie's 5 pups. they are such cute little sausages LOL

Re: Rosie's second litter!
Wow what little chunkers!
-
Re: Rosie's second litter!
Awww.... how cute! They're absolutely adorable, and Jo is right ... they're chunky!
-
Re: Rosie's second litter!
she does make very chunky pups LOL
oh and guess what? the last kitten from tigerlily and misty's litter has been found and has a new home! another little girl. so 4 girls and 2 boys in that litter. i'm so happy. she was found today. ;)
-
Re: Rosie's second litter!
That's wonderful! I love my avatar pic of her. Sassy!
-
Re: Rosie's second litter!
Oh that's great news Aleesha. We've got feral cats next door but I can't figure out how to catch them. They won't let anyone approach and already one of the last litter was run over on our street. :(
-
Re: Rosie's second litter!
i'm not sure if heather ended up using the live trap or if she just caught this one. the rest were caught by hand though. i'm soooo happy knowing they'll have good homes, will be fixed and not be living in the wild.

Re: Rosie's second litter!
So the red tears that look like blood are from stress? oh thank god! I have went throught just about every kind of bedding money can buy and after over $100 worth of different beddings my male is still tearing up with the red stuff. I thought it was allergies (sp?) but I guess the male is stressed because my mama rat went in to heat and he cant get to her.
he is literaly tareing up his cage and chiped a tooth trying to get to her by chewing on the bars.
I have given him chew toys and he wont touch them, he just runs franticaly around his cage chewing on the bars.
-
Re: Rosie's second litter!
it's also a sign of other illness as well. her tears only lasted a few hours.

Jessie, how close is he to this female? Also rats hate to be alone so he may be much happier being not so close to the female and having another male rat of about his size and age to hang out with, play with, groom, etc. How did you determine the female was in heat?
-
Re: Rosie's second litter!
well to answer all of your questions, The male is on the other side of the room in a 2 story rat cage. I can buy another male, he was housed with 20 other males when I got him and a bunch of other males. (I fed off the other males and keept him for his temperment)
I was told by the breeder when i got the rats that the best way to see if a female is in heat is if her stuff is a little pink and is shiny with a fluid. not dripping or anything. and once I saw him running about the first time i looked at my female and she was looking the way down there I was told and .. wamo there are babies now. I did place my other breeder female in with him and he calmed right down. no breeding yet like the first time.
Him and the others are going to the vet once the babies are bigger and there eyes are open.
