One of my cats just died.
He was almost 14 years old. His name was Toby. The kids loved this guy and my daughter has taken it pretty rough. We buried him in the backyard with memorial made by my daughter to put over the grave. He was very kid friendly cat.
Here is a picture of him.
    Rest in peace Toby.

Yes. Natural causes. He had been sick for a little while and the vet informed us he would go soon. We let him go peacefully at home rather than let the vet euthanize him since there was no medical urgency to speed up his passing.

Steve, so sorry to hear of Toby's passing. He had a good long run of it and I'm sure a wonderful life for a cat but it's never easy when our furry friends reach the end so much more quickly than we'd like. When we had to put down our two cats (a female age 18 and a male age 16+) over the course of a year, it was very hard on the whole family. I know it's little help but over time it will get easier to remember Toby's whole life and not just those last weeks of it and his passing. It is also a wonderful way to help the kids understand about life, death and healthy grieving...something all of us will face...so they can build those tools through dealing with Toby's passing.
