Re: Post your BCI cage...
Cool; I thought of putting him into my BP rack, but he is already on the larger size for the tubs and would be outgrowing it in the near future anyway. This cage is large enough for awhile yet; I plan on building a melamine box type cage for him in the next few years, when he seems to be outgrowing this one. I only plan on having one BCI so a rack would not be needed; that is an ADORABLE boa pic by the way!!

IMO, you can house male boas in tubs all their lives if fed moderately and not overfed. But, you're right if all you plan on having is one Boa a rack would be overkill. But, you can always build the rack to stack multiple sized tubs. Set your boa in one shelf, a couple BP's in another 1-2-3 shelves, set up your accessories and cleaners in another shelf, just a thought.

Re: Post your BCI cage...
Here's Carmen's 20L from a few months ago - she has bigger hides now and uses them, so we'll keep providing them =):

What size tubs are you referring to?
I'll post my largest boa's house after work tonight... :)
Re: Post your BCI cage...
He probably means a tub like this one. This boa is over 6 feet long.
This is a 72 qt tub. The boa is taking up only one half of the tub in this pic.

Re: Post your BCI cage...
You can use the Iris 110's, like the one in the picture with the Hypo DH Ghost. He's about 5ft in that picture and as you can see he has plenty of room to move around.

Re: Post your BCI cage...
Hey Gerry, That boy sure is handsome "Hypo DH Ghost". Is Mom & Dad going to get toghether for 2007.
Thanks John.
Re: Post your BCI cage...
Hi John, thanks!
Yes, he is in fact paired up now with the Pastel. He's just went blue, but I'm sure once he does shed we'll see some action. Either way temps here in FL are still mid/high 80's, it's supposed to drop into the low/high 70's tonight though.

Re: Post your BCI cage...

Re: Post your BCI cage...
oh wow, this is JUST the thread i've been wanting to see!!! i'll take a pic of sabrina and drake's enclosure after my hubby wakes up from his nap!
Re: Post your BCI cage...
Thanks for the pics of the tubs... I'll keep that option open. I am rather fond of the boaphile cages, though... :)
Re: Post your BCI cage...
Awesome cages!! I am glad to see that others don't have hides. But granted, tubs do provide a hidden environment sort of.. keep 'um coming!
Re: Post your BCI cage...
I give mine a hide. He is in it just about as much as he is out of it. I got this snake from a mother whose son moved out of state and left his snakes behind... it hadn't been handled or had its cage or water bowl cleaned for 10 months, and he isn't extremely used to interaction, so I like to let him have his privacy whenever he wants it.
The case he is in is a little under 6'.

Re: Post your BCI cage...
okay, so i got some pics. first here's my little sabrina - rtb. she's about a 1.5 yrs old. she had to poke her head out to see what was going on LOL
https://ball-pythons.net/gallery/fil...rtb_546880.jpg
next... here's my drake - hog island boa. he's grown a lot and just finished shedding. (hey jamie what so ya think?)
https://ball-pythons.net/gallery/fil...7/drakehog.jpg
and lastly... :giggle: here's my rack - errr - stack!
drake is on the bottom, then my lovely ball dexter and on top is my corn - gandalf the grey - anery a.

Re: Post your BCI cage...
and that glass ball is the lamp shade from a hanging lamp - it was in our front entranceway when we bought this house. i liked the shape and figured i could use it for something... so it waited and waited and then i gave it to drake. he adores it... he spends most of his time coiled up in that glass ball LOL
i offer hides to my boas... and they seem to use them some of the time... so i leave them in there.
(this is so cool seeing where everyone keeps their snakes!)
Re: Post your BCI cage...
All I keep anymore are dwarf boas. they fit real nice in cb 70 racks. this male Sabogae Island Boa has popped his head out looking for a bite. Im not talking rodents here! :) https://ball-pythons.net/gallery/fil.../boaracks2.JPG
Re: Post your BCI cage...
oh wow, he's gorgeous. how big do they get?
Re: Post your BCI cage...
Re: Post your BCI cage...
Awesome setups! Rapture; I like that cage; nice and big and spacious.
Aleesha, that's a good idea (using the nylon bands for cage locks.) I was going to ask how you kept them closed; question answered!
Ed; you just have too many darned awesome snakes :)
Re: Post your BCI cage...
those aren't nylon bands... they are luggage straps :) made of nylon :giggle:
Re: Post your BCI cage...
Aleesha, Your hogg island looks different. Is that a pure hoggy? ;)
I like the plastic plants in the cages.....only a woman.
Re: Post your BCI cage...
hey they all love their plastic plants... it helps with their sheds! :P
no, unfortunately my hog isn't pure. i thought he was when i purchased him but i found out he wasn't. his saddles are showing more and more every shed... as the rest of him lightens more and more...
here's the thread of me discovering him as a cross (if you are interested)

Re: Post your BCI cage...
Here is a BCI cage that I had built myself. It goes from a "vertical" cage to a "horizontal" cage in no time. Sorry for the poor-quality photos. The cage is 4' x 2' x 2' or 2' x 2' x 4'. In the first photo is a 6' male BCI hiding in the corner (first day in the cage).

Here's my 40 gallon tank (2 - 20gallon longs which are stacked, because I had removed the bottom of one). My 3' male CA BCI is highly arboreal and he doesn't do anything on the ground except defecate and drink water.

:D Yay for homemade cages !
