Anyone know??

Just curious about something. I always check our local want adds and I came across someone offering morfs and he had no price listing. So I emailed him specificly with questions on the Piebalds he had listed. I received an email back asking what I was looking for stating he could get pics to me over the weekend. With this he also listed prices, 800 for juvies & sub-adults and 1200 for adults ready to go this season. He also requested my phone number.
I know when a deal looks to good to be true. My question is has anyone ever heard of a breeder from Kirbi AL by the name of Maxwell? I would hate to see people get scammed but Id also hate to ruin someone's reputation. This guy is also offeing to sell eggs... So I just wouldnt feel morally right if I didnt turn him into the site he has posted on "if" he is a scam artist.

I guess the first thing that I wondered was why someone would sell morphs through a local want ad? That's where you buy used end tables, not thousand dollar snakes. But, who knows???...:)

Also, if this guy is in Kirbi Alabama, why would he advertise a local want ad in Utah? Be very wary! ;)

Oh yeh I will "NOT" be buying from him. I am just trying to see how legit he is, I dont like scamming in any way shape or form. Ive been doing searches and come up with nothing and just realized the zip code he uses is for CA not AL.

Could be a Jobber.

He does all the ads and selling of animals from breeders he knows, not animals he has. Lots of jobbers get nailed up as a scammer cuz nothing matches up. However it doesnt match up cuz they are not the breeder. Not saying this person isnt a scammer but you just never know.

The KEY words i see that makes this smell like tuna is,he will sell the 'EGGS' also.No one will sell the eggs because no way of telling whats really inside;) .He does sound like the NIGERIANS who are also trying to sell exotic bird EGGS also:mad: .I would safely say this guy is scum and a scammer!!:mad:

To me, its a morph......would you pay $1200 for a cornsnake morph? Its no longer an odd or rare morph......its been around for many many years. You can pick up a pair of hets anywhere for less then a visual and make your own. Dont get me wrong....I love pieds, but not enough to spend that much money on one. Just my opinion......dont want to step on any toes here.

I don't get it but to each his own. I also wouldn't give that egomaniac a penny of my hard earned money.

The reason they are still so high is that its a recessive gene. even with 100% hets your still only getting a 25% chance shot at a morphed snake. Same with albinos and so on. Yea you can make your one of your own with hets. But you buy hets at 2000 you still have to wait 3 years to produce any morphs and thats if the 25% proves out..

That why so expencive.

there are some pairs available for $1500-$1700 a pair......not many......but a few.

Yea I have seen them. But its like we said in one of the other thread about the guy selling the snake "One of a kind morph for 10000.00" One of a kind morphs don't go for 10000.00 I mean Mojave's just got under that this season. Pied will hold their price for a good while cause like Lucys they tend to be the most visual of the morphs and so they are highly prised in collections. I know breeders that slobber and foam at the mouth over pieds. They are one of the home town favorites so to speek.

Many breeder will cut you breeders will cut you break so 1500-1700 isn't that strange and they great out standing snakes. Get you some. We all could have gotten lessers for 1500 and Mojave's for 800 (MKR) but what was the quality like were they inbreed as Alabama hills people or crossbreed. All things to concider when looking at any animal but high end morphs most of all. If that dosen't matter then peaches but if you want quality and know that if everyone else is selling them for X and one guy is sell them for thousands less then as a wary buyer we tend to be a little shy of things like that. It might turn out great then again is that a risk your willing to take. Like this guy with the subadults pieds for 1200.00 you do good to get an albino for that.

I will just say I have no comments about MKR or the like..........they are local to me and I know some of them.........However I was just stating that the price has come down some, I am glad to see a small price break after some long term spikes in the pricing.
