He has been on kingsnake since 2002. He is most likely ok. I am sure he bought It last year....tried to breed it (if it is old enough), and got nothing but a bunch of normals. Now he is trying to re-coop his losses. Notice, he doesnt say anything about breeding results. Just that you get a unique snake.

Yeah. From the looks of the picture as well, it just looks like improper lighting giving you some righer colors in the snake. The photo isn't doctored nor shopped in any way from which I can see.

I wouldn't be so quick to bash this guy. I'm sure most of the more experienced folks here have heard of him, if not dealt with him before. He's not a newbie...


To me that ad looks like he is selling a snake that could be something new. I wouldn't pay 10k for it, but someone else may have the cash and see the potential.

Remember ALL morphs come from WC stock in the begining......LOL.........all will be kicking themselves when this snake produces some off the wall crazy morph that sells for somewhere around 100K...........;)

If you go through the trouble to import an African Snake, most likely you are wanting to prove it out and get the corner on a new morph line. If someone was wanting to sell a truely unique snake, my conclusion would be that it didn't pan out as he hoped. But ...yes....simply speculation on my part.

That's cool...I guess it was just the "I am sure" part that sounded a little presumptuous...:)

If he thinks it's worth $10,000 then that's what he should try to sell it for... He'll find out if anyone else thinks it's worth that much. Who knows how much he paid for it... although I've seen other cool CH "oddballs" for a lot less.

Absolutely untrue ... many many ball python mutations were proven out by someone other than the importer and many changed hands numerous times before they were proven ... pieds, caramels, genetic stripes, are among a few of the mutations that were aquired from someone and then proven out.

Jared is a fixture in the ball python "biz" and has been so for as long as I can remember ... he's as much "in the know" about what may or may not be a "winner" when it comes to ball python mutations as any of the "big name" breeders ... He created the super stripe, which is one of the rarest ball python mutations in the world and I'm sure he has much more in store for us in the future.

I guess this was more along the lines of what I was looking for. Some have said that KS ppl are just fly-by-nighters, (except for the names & businesses I already know...i.e. Gerry, etc.) and I'm looking to learn. I was seriously looking at one of his other ads and pricing the animals, but when I saw THIS one, it rang some warning bells. Thanks for the additional information, Adam. :)

Next time it might be a better idea to ask questions instead of rushing to judgement on a nice guy like Jared ... the world of ball pythons is a big big place, and is far greater "offline" than it is on the internet by an order of magnitude ... there's a whole lot to learn out there. ;)

Nope, no judgement going on. That's why I'm digging and had started the thread. I'm NOWHERE close enough to plunking down 10K, but I've experienced someone who worked both ends of the candle, & had been "stuck" (replace w/non-family verbage here) on the less-expensive end.


Just another site/breeder to add to the list for later reference and continuing research.
