I'm a newbie.
Hey all,
I just wanted to say hi and let everyone know I'm about to receive my very first snake ever. It just happens to be a ball python. At this point as to which type of bp it is I don't know. The bp will be either a normal or albino. The previous owner want's to suprise me. As soon as I get the bp I'll post a pic and you can let me know how it looks. Hope to hear from you.

Wow! Considering the difference in price between a normal and an albino is a couple thousand dollars...sounds like a very interesting deal.
But regardless of that, welcome to BP.net! And if there's anything we can do to help you get your new snake all set up and comfy, please let us know! :handshake:

Wow. Let's hope he doesn't surprise you with an albino burm instead. ;)
BTW, welcome to the forum and congrats on the new addition whatever it may be! :welcome:

Re: I'm a newbie.
Thank you all for the welcome. I received my bp a couple days ago. I told you it was going to be either an albino or a normal.
Well, I happy to say it's a healthy normal bp. Yes a small part of me was let down (you know how it is albino vs. normal), but still it's a great bp. *Pics coming soon*

Did you have to pay for it? There is a big price difference between an albino and a normal. Glad to hear you got your first snake. Now it is just a matter of time before you are bit with "the bug".
(The bug is what makes you want to buy more snakes, now that you have one. You really start to see the beauty of other breeds and types of snakes and decide to buy them.)
I started with just one BP and now I have 1 BP(waiting for 2 more to come in) and 2 boas.

Re: I'm a newbie.
Well, if snakes are anything like tattoo's then I'm on the fast track to being broke($). My first snake pic is my avatar. I know I need to make a few improvements, but you can't complain when the whole package was FREE.:D

Re: I'm a newbie.
Get the heat rock OUT. If you want a burned snake, go ahead and keep it in. Also, if heat rocks get wet, your snake may get electrocuted. Untreated burns lead to bacterial infections, ex. scalerot, which can then lead to full-blown septicemia(bacteria in the blood), and that will lead to death very quickly.
Your snake needs a proper environment to thrive, not just survive, in your care. We have a wonderful caresheet here, make yourself familiar with it, for your snake's well-being.
