Can anyone recommend (or not) these guys for frozen rats? Good quality rats? Their prices are great and, because they are local, there is no shipping. But I have never heard of them.... any of you?

Big Cheese is the best out there in my opinion. The best quality rodents (my girl describes them as pretty). Soft fur and clean with no caked on crap. Vaccuum packed on styro trays. Chad and the guys do it up proper at Big Cheese!

I ordered from the once. The packaging was great. Only problem for me is that they did not have certain rodents available so I only got half of my order (and was only charged for half of my order). That seems to happen with any rodent supplier though, so no worries.

I ordered from them and 2 trays of rat weans reaked of urine smell. I pulled one tray from out of the freezer and opened and could instantly smell it. The first tray wasn't as bad but it got worse as I went. The last ones were horrible. All my small rats seemed fine though. I emailed them about it and never heard anything back. I probaby won't use them again.

    Yeah, what he said!!!

I've only ordered from them once, but definitely will again. Quality is WAAY above the others I have used.

Just got another order from Big Cheese. After trying most of the big guys, these guys are still the best. Perfectly packaged, frozen solid after 2 days on a Greyhound bus and excellent quality! Thanks again to Chad and Chris for doing it right one more time!

I did end up going down the street and picking up frozen rats from big cheese....of course my snakes seem to be off feed right now....so i can't blame the rats! :) They seem like a great location and great product. Glad I purchased rats from bigcheese.

What is the size variance per package? I need to order rats and am shooting for something (pups) in the 28-30 gram range. I ask because I currently use, and love, The Mouse Factory but they are out of pups and won't have any for a while. When TMF says the 'average' size is 19 grams for a fuzzy they really mean it...all are evenly sized and weigh between 19-21 grams. I used RodentPro before (and will never use them again) and they gave a large 'range' in weight and I found them to be on the light size, they list fuzzies as 9 - 19 grams and most were 8 grams, they were more like pinks frankly. I worry because I was thinking of using Big Cheese for this round but they list pups as 20-35 grams...that is a big range. If they are closer to 20 grams they will be too small and if they are 35 grams they are too big (and I could just use the weanlings I have now at that rate). Anyway, if someone could let me know what the size range really is for the size range stated on the website I would appreciate it! Thanks!

They are spot on there sizes. And you can't get better quality rodents anywhere else! I heart BCRs.

    Thank you.
What am am wondering though is what is the average size per pack? Is it closer to the minimum or the maximum stated? Could I expect 20 or 35 gram rats? A mix thereof? If so, how many 20 gram, how many 25 gram, how many 35 gram? As I said, I know TMF's would all be within a gram or two of the listed 27 gram average, not a 15 gram difference between two in the same package.
I know I'm being anal here but these things are important to me.
