    kavios needs help
hi i've recently met kavios (he's fairly new on this site so maybe you dont remember seeing him post) and he speaks more spanish than english so he asked me(since im bilingual) if it would be a better idea to buy a BP morph at a reptile show or at the IRBA in pomona in december.another thing though...he lives in mexico and i told him that i dont think its legal to take snakes to mexico.so i told him [ ... EDIT by JLC ... ] so that no one would notice he has a snake(it's what us tarantula keepers would do).

Buy from a breeder that is going to be the best bet in my option. That said I don't think you'll get alot of good responce about sneaking animals that are outlawed into other countrys. I'm not going to promote that and I think to avoid tons of back lash no one will. That smugleing. :banned1: Felony.

You must always think first about what could happen to confiscated animal. Smuggling live animals of any kind is a definate big NO NO!!:colbert:

Just a little heads up here. When you post stuff like wanting to take anything to another state or the such and post that you know its illegal. You yourself can be charged for aiding him in smuggling that snake.I am not saying someone on this site is going to turn you both in if you try to do this.Just take a look at how many "guest" are on here at any given time.I know for a fact some of the people who enforce the laws of Illinois as far as illegal reptiles and the such, surf the numerous reptile sites looking for stuff just like your post here.I myself would never assist anyone to take illegal reptiles to there new homes when they move.Say he does not get caught this week and he smuggles in a ball python. Two weeks later someone turns him in and the local authorities confiscate the ball python.Since said animal is illegal there they kill it.Now is that fair to the ball python? I am not being a jerk here just trying to prevent you both from getting into alot of trouble.

Its also not fair to the community of reptile keepers. Every little illegal action involving reptiles hurts and hurts alot. That's how MORE laws and restrictions are put in place.

I'm dissapointed that someone here would recommend ways to smuggle animals without going through the proper procedures. I'm even more dissapointed to hear that its something you commonly do...or least by the sounds of it with your tarantula comment.

guess i'll have to tell him that he might want to reconsider buying a BP unless he plans to stay here.he never mentioned that actually.

I edited the original post to take out the "suggestion"....not because it's such a brillaint tactic that I'm afraid it'll give anyone ideas  ...but because it is strongly against our TOS to suggest illegal activity of any sort, but most especially that involving reptiles. BP.net will not support any such statement, nor appear to support it by allowing it to stay.

snakeman...tell your friend to buy his snake from a reputable breeder who has CITES permits to ship Internationally. They're not that hard to find.

Well if someone was to read your first post you state "its what us tarantula keepers would do".You basicly admited that your group has done this when its needed.

Well has done and still does. Two totally different things. Just know Snake man that people tend to get a little feisty here when people openly admit to doing things that would hurt or hinder our hobby. Sneaking outlawed animals in to another country or state or city for that fact is one of the big things that promotes law makers to ban our hobby al together. If you have not personally participated in this then great!!

It is our goal to have Herps be as main stream as cats or dogs. This goal is under constant attack sadly because of the phobia and stigma surrounding snakes and reptiles. Illegal actions get law makers a legitimate reason to limit our hobby and passion. And further strengthen the stigma that snakes and reptiles are not pets.

It is my request that if you (Snake man) share and enjoy our hobby then help us with this battle by deterring those who would harm it by turning them in to the authorities or (if they are friends or family) continue to impress on them the harm of their actions
    .

i meant that if i were visiting my family in mexico and i happen to come across a brachy species of tarantula, then MAYBE i would bring it back home with me.if it was a mature male wandering for a female, then i WOULDNT take it back home.only if it was more of a juvenile and maybe adult females.since wild brachys' populations are being lowered in the wild,i'd do what i can to breed brachys and bring their populations back up.
