    Limits on reptile buys
I found at my local herp haunt this out standing little normal. Never seen this much white or as light a color on a normal. Needless to say that I was told NO! to my new snakes friend. Kinda hurt my feeling.

So all that said does your S.O have a limit to your snake buys.

The "Some" option got my vote because it was closest to what goes on in this house....

Everything is cool if the bills are paid, I let her know first, then she gets something of equal value :)

Equality is the key to a happy relationship :D LOL....and it works both ways too....if she buys something, I usually get something of my choice the next time :)

My wife will tell me no when I jokingly ask her if I can drop a fe grand on something I want...but that's just it I know I can't and I wouldn't. Aside from that I buy animals generally when I want them on the stipulations that I know I am producing enough food for the addition, I have the space, and most importantly have the money. I know when to stop so its not a problem

When i tell my gf that i am heading to a show thinking of picking something up her response is one of two things "NO!!" or "DON"T BRING ANYTHING HOME" she always says that i don't need any more.... BAH!! is what i say to that, you can never have too many:D :D !(just as long as they are all plump!)

Oh geez....I have TWO snakes....count 'em.... 1...2. And it took two YEARS to go from 1 to 2. I'm not sure there's an option on your poll that would fit the extremes of my circumstances.

Let me first say this...I LOVE my husband!! I'm crazy IN LOVE with him and would not dream of being married to anyone else in the whole world. And I'm willing to work with him and not "intrude" on the comfort of his own home by bringing in tons of animals that he's not comfortable with. But that being said...it does sometime hurt...sometimes a lot...when the reasons for "no" seem like nothing more than "just because."

But we're working on it. And he's promised me that when he retires from the AF and we get a permanent home...he'll build me a "snake house" on the property and I can have whatever I want in there. :D

My Wife really does not care what i buy or trade to add to our collection. She is somewhat involved in helping with the upkeep on our collection of snakes. She tells me as long as i am happy with our collection of snakes then thats all that matters to her :D .

    Re: Limits on reptile buys
I don't live with my partner so my situation is a little different than the married folk here. But it was my boyfriend who got me interested in snakes and he's very happy that I'm enjoying them. I'm taking things slow for now because I'm new to it, although I'm itching to get more. We were talking recently about what I would like to get next and he said "sounds like we are going to need to get you a rack system soon". I'm lucky to have a really supportive guy when it comes to this. Really - the main limit for me is space because I work out of my home and have to maintain much of my space as public space. Other than that, I'm restraining myself because I think it's the responsible thing to do.

My wife just wants to be in the loop. I tell her my long term breeding plans, let her know that she will hopefully get some jewerly or a vacation out of it and then its OK by her.

I have to give her legitimate reasons to drop thousands on morphs, but then she eventually sees my point!!
She refuses to come with me to shows, so I let her know what I will possibly bring home. I have close to 30 BP's now, so she's been reall cool about it!!

I was veto'd proactively on retics, burms and scrubs :( for size - the afrock was my big snake limit . . at least until we get these kids graduated and moved out. Think a big retic moving into their room would dissuade them from coming back? ;)

Otherwise it would be a matter of finances - but I am fairly level headed there.

Of course empty rack space screams to be filled . . and I know that look in her eyes . . .

I'm exceedingly picky when it comes to anything I usually want herp-wise, so Kev typically doesn't mind on the rare occasions that I get something new.

Then again, it's not like he has any room to talk. ;)

Its all good I told her after the first of the year I was getting 4 snakes all pastels lemon and jungle. She kinda gave me this studder like well we'll see. I was like you can see when those wonderfull 8ball boxes get opened.. LOL

That went over like a lead balloon. But she has to understand if we are going to do his breeding thing. We have to buy and keep snakes. As much as I would like to I can't poop Morph and het pythons. I mean can you imagian :fart: lesser...... :fart: Pied, and for my next trick (mixes it up) :pinkele: :fart: Pied bumblebee.

Everyone would be like   :confuse: and I'd be like :neener: So if this is going to get off the ground got to get the snakes from some where. LOL

Same with us....we would never try to control each other like that. With us, it's more about respecting what each other wants, and compromising. Honestly, if someone ever told me a flat out no to something I was interested in, that would be a HUGE incentive for me to go ahead with it, lol.

The middle option is my husband and I. I'm the reptile addict but he is quite happy to interact with them (except if I ask him to clean). Just as long as the bills are paid he doesn't tend to mind. Though he has been hinting at another external hard drive.... hmm..

My last bf kept telling me to stop buying them, but I never listened. (We didnt live together, my house my pets!).

My current bf doesnt care, and actually likes all 13 of my reptile buddies, so I dont think there'd be a limit if we lived together (as long as we had the money to spend).

My wife gets upset occasionally, but that's only when I buy things without telling her first. Pretty much, as long as I ask it's all good. And if the deal was too good to pass up and I couldn't ask her at the time she normally lets it slide. most of the money made from the breedings go towards buying her things as a thank you for putting up with me and my animals anyway, so she can't complain lol

Yeah, not much of a reptile crowd in our little corner of the Northwest... I've dated a bit, but it's weird. Everytime I ask them if they want to see my balls they don't call me back .

Seriously, dated two women in two years, the first turned out to be insane the second had a serious fear of snakes. Single life isn't so bad... no really... it isn't. I'm... so... happy.:stupidme::angered:
