Kenyan Sand Boas
I bought a pair of Kenyan Sand Boas also at the expo. A male and female breeding pair.
This is the male, Acheron. He’s a good guy.

After I was finished taking photos, I dipped him in his dish to see if he was thirsty and he was! I was rewarded by getting to watch him drink, it was very cute.

This is the female, Lethe.

Lethe and Biscuit. He doesn’t give a crap about the snakes anymore, as you can tell.

Re: Kenyan Sand Boas
Snake Lady83, Thank you! They were pains in the butt to take photos of! Acheron kept trying to burrow in the carpet and Lethe was too bust slithering around to hold still!
jcaustralia, I saw some of those at the expo. ^^
Vomitore, I've been wanting one for a long time now.

Re: Kenyan Sand Boas
question here: my ksb is a pain in the butt to feed... so i have some questions:
what substrate do you have them on?
do you feed them in their enclosure or in another bin?
how do they do with their sheds?
thanks

Re: Kenyan Sand Boas
I use carefresh bedding in mine, and he (Kenny) seems to love it. It's easy for them to borrow in and it keeps the tunnels they make.
To feed him, I take Kenny out and put him in another container to feed him. I do this just so he won't equate me opening his cage to me feeding him. I want him to equate me opening his cage to me holding him.
Kenny just shed for the second time today. The first time the shed came off in pieces and he retained a little bit on the tail. The second time I upped the humidity when I saw he was close to shedding and it all came off in one solid piece.
WOW, sorry for the long post. Hope that helps.

I've never a problem with my KSB with feeding. She knows where her food dish is, and since I feed her F/T she doesn't even strike the food. She lightly grabs it and consumes. Or, she'll grab it and pull it into her coconut substrate.

Re: Kenyan Sand Boas
I feed Shadow is a deli cup and have never had a problem with him not wanting to eat.
He also is housed on Desert Blend Lizard Litter.
As for shedding, I mist him when he starts to turn blue.

Re: Kenyan Sand Boas
recycling goddess, I've been having issues with Acheron eatting, I finally caved and bought him a brown live fuzzy. Try that maybe and then try and switch them to frozen again.

Aleesha have any luck yet?

Re: Kenyan Sand Boas
How do you know when he drinks water?
I've held mine over his water bowl a couple times, but he just sticks his tongue out then moves around looking for solid land...

Re: Kenyan Sand Boas
They will drink when they feel the need to. They also get a bit of it from eating a prey item.
"you can take a horse to water, but you can't make him drink"
Same goes for snakes. When he/she is thirsty, he/she will search for water.
