    Who's afraid???
I've always had an intrest in phobias......way before I got into snakes I knew what Ophidiophobia was. The one thing that I have a slight fear of is spiders (Arachnephobia) but only a little. My mom thinks it's odd to have snakes but still have a fear of anything. So what is everyone else afraid of??

    Re: Who's afraid???
I used to have a fairly significant degree of arachnophobia...but have worked for years to tame it...to the point now where it is a more healthy respect for spiders and merely a desire to not have them "in my space."

Other than that, I'm not really afraid of anything that would have "phobia" attached to it. As I get older, I get vertigo more and more at heights...but that's a physical issue and not a mental one. I'm not "afraid" of heights, I just get dizzy if I see a strong contrast between where my body is and where the ground is in relation to it.

I'm trying to get over my fear of spiders as well. I just never realized how many phobias exist. Some of the phobias listed I haven't been exposed to so I'm not sure if I'm afraid of it or not. I've always wondered if I could call my job and tell them I have Ponophobia ( fear of work ) I also think I might have Nosocomephobia (fear of hospitals)

    And this is my favorite
    Fear of Everything- Panophobia

    Re: Who's afraid???
I used to have severe ophidiophobia, but certainly don't have that anymore.

I used to fear being in an empty house alone at dusk or generally afraid of the dark - dunno if that has a name.

I hate eating bananas and hate drinking milk - but I don't really fear them. I guess I fear getting really bad leg cramps, which means I have to eat a whole banana. =P

There isn't any animals I have a phobia of, but I do have a phobia of eye injury. No idea if there's a name for it. But I've actually fainted, gotten queasy, and had near panic attacks from graphic depictions and descriptions of eye gauging and things like that *shudder* Always have... I ask that people warn me about stuff like that when they recommend movies!

    Re: Who's afraid???
I have a fear of any thing in huge numbers; be it bumble bees, spiders.. kittens.. lol. Not the thing itself, but like this: I had a nightmare once where I saw one fly.. no big deal.. then two, then it was like they were all over everything in the room I was in.. panic-incuding for me!!
Another fear I have is a car accident one; after being in a few crashes, I sometimes have nightmares about this and jump awake.

    Re: Who's afraid???
A very unhealthy fear of heights. Once looked into a mirror laying on the floor. when I looked down on the mirror at the reflection of the 30 ft ceiling I blacked out. I had walked up to it not realizing it was a mirror. When I looked down I felt the earth had fallen out from under me.. Sounds silly, but true.

    Re: Who's afraid???
Im terrified of the dark to some degree- not the dark itsself, but i have those "omg what was that" moments constantly.
im just scared some phsycho is hiding out in cedar creek waiting on me at 5 in the morning to do some epic monologe in my front yard before igniting an insane chase scene with me where i have to avoid either a gun or scyle depending on the day im having... *_*

to put it nicely- if i come in close contact with a scorpion, like find it by my body within a foot or so, i jump up immediatly and scale the highest thing in the room and start screaming or crying one.
if our bug-spray guy is a little late the little ____'s start comming in by the droves and you can only imagine how this affects me (effects?)

i am so on the edge in the mornings from that stupid boogeyman haunt of mine, i just wish someone would try and put me in a 'scary movie' situation. you would see haunted house, broken down car, and me trotting up the highway with a tire iron in my hand. :sabduel:

Yes ...that happens...just yesterday on another forums...there was a thread mrked "sex'' in the OFF TOPIC forum...and I was like "Should I? Oh what the heck."

But im scared of hights. I can do rollercoasters. But planes and cliffs and some mountains? NU UH! The only way you would get me on a plane is to a diffrent country to go herping....or to Daytona...or have me flying it. and it would be a small one...lol....fighter jet.

Trantulas....for the fangs..but im sure once I hold one it will all change...

And i do not want to get robbed....or broken into at all....I use to not sleep durring the summers when I was little cause I would hear things...now that I have gotten bigger if something happens ill put a whoopin' on there butts.

And when someone trys to hide from me , and scare me, when they jump out at me they normaly start bleeding ....lol...You can ask some friends of mine....

    Re: Who's afraid???
I'm afraid of spiders but less since I had kids. I had to be the one to deal with them and couldn't act scared. Still - the bigger they are the scarier they are to me. I'm also afraid of "crunchy bugs" - anything that goes crunch when you step on it. I find the biggest boot I can and stand across the room from it for ages before I get up the courage to step on it. I love some of the geckos and lizards and stuff but I don't seriously think I could keep an animal that eats crunchy bugs.

My son has hounding me for over a year now to get a tarantula for him. He thinks they are the coolest things in the world ever since he held one.

Why couldn't he have asked for something simple like a cobra? That I could understand.:D Why does it have to be a spider?

out of all the animals ive ever come into contact with, the only ones that still get me scared are big pet birds, like Macaws and large parrots, I mean Eagles and Hawks are fine, its just those certain birds. I can deal with venomous snakes and venomous spiders but get me around one of those birds and I get spooked.

I'm mildy claustrophobic myself. I have no idea why, but I bet it's related to something that happened when I was very young.

It really really sucks when I'd had to go in for an MRI.

I was a little claustrophobic when I was a kid but I got over it to hide in a closet and jump out and scare people....... my desire to scare other people was stronger than my own fear.

My wife's little cousin who is 10 years old now, but when she was younger it seemed like she was learning to be afraid of snakes from her mother.

When she is over at our house without her mom around she has no problems with snakes and has no problem even holding one of the ball pythons. But when she is with her mom, she is super afraid of snakes.

It seems that she was learning to be afraid of snakes subconsciously from her mom because her mom is terrified of snakes...... and chances are if it wasn't for me and my wife helping her get over her fear she would grow up and be afraid of snakes and may not really know why......

I'm kind of scared of spiders. I don't really have a desire to get one or hold one, but I do think that they are interesting. I stand up for them actually. If there is one in the house I don't try to kill it and if someone else tries to kill it I stop them. I don't love them, but I do respect them. The only other fear I have is being in a small room/closet for a long time...a little while doesn't bother me though.
