Re: Oh Cueball.....
It's a GREAT Chinese bistro. They also have a fast food version called Pei Wei.
At either one, they have the BEST Mongolian Beef, Crab Wontons, and yes, Chicken Lettuce Wraps.
I could eat there every day.

I didn't know Pei Wei was connected with PF Chang's!! I love 'em both!! I had Kung Pao Chicken at PF's and I thought "Wow...this is the BEST Kung Pao I've ever had!"....and then I had it at Pei Wei...it was prepped differently, but still JUST as good...and I couldn't figure out which one I liked better. Now I know why! LOL

Re: Oh Cueball.....
That's okay Aleesha. They only have a few Timmies here in the US and they haven't a clue what poutine is the poor sad things. Hate to say it but right now with my lingering chest cold http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...y/Sniffles.gif I'm contemplating a order up north for some Buckley's Mixture! http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2.../MapleLeaf.gifhttp://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...ey/Mountie.gif
Found these links recently Aleesha and thought you'd enjoy them LOL.

Re: Oh Cueball.....
Well you guys lived for a time in Quebec right Christie? The home of the world's best poutine!
I tried to tell an american cook how to make poutine recently. He used *gasp* brown beef gravy and shredded mozzarella cheese! *faint* It was edible granted, but it sure as heck wasn't poutine!
For those uninformed folk, here's a good quote about poutine...
Poutine is Acadian slang for mushy mess and is best described as a heart attack in a bowl.
How to make perfect poutine:
The French Fries - The potatos must be hand-cut and very fresh. Fast-food-type fries will not taste quite as good. Also, you must fry the potatoes in pure lard. Vegetable oil and other politically-correct oils spoil the unique taste.
The Gravy - French-Canadian gravy (also known as BBQ Chicken Gravy) is very different than American gravy. First of all, it is very dark and thick, like molasses. Secondly, it has a very flavourful taste which cannot be described...very much like pepper and vinegar and other 'magical' ingredients. If you can stand a spoon straight up in it, it's good! Make sure it's very, very hot!
The Cheese - The cheese is the most important part of good poutine. You must use FRESH white, cheddar cheese CURDS. These curds have a taste and texture very different than actual cheddar cheese. The cheese curds will actually squeak in your teeth as you bite them. While curds are available in most Canadian supermarkets, they are not found in many American markets (the closest thing in taste is Mozzarella String Cheese - but don't use this stuff!). When the curds are placed on the fries and the hot gravy is poured on top, the three flavors combine to produce what can only be described as the BEST junk food taste sensation on earth.
(thank you to Knight's Canadian Info Collection for the above recipe)

Re: Oh Cueball.....
My husband spent a summer doing an internship in LaTuque, Quebec. I spent 2 weeks up there visiting and sight seeing. It was beautiful, and I'm dying to go back to Montreal. I had these wonderful maple crepes with ham and cheese. :tongue2: I want more, plus those lovely waffle with strawberries baked inside. ummmm.... I'm starting to get hungry.

Re: Oh Cueball.....
Poutine! I know what that is; we always laugh about it when we visit Mark's mom who lives in Deseronto Ontario.
It's cool that yer daughter is into BPs!!
