Snake on the loose in RVA...
Hey guys...
Just got a call from my old boss, someone just moved into an apartment near where I live and has found a loose snake behind the sink. They described it as a "yellow boa" about 6 ft. long.
He said he's terrified and doesn't know what to do, and just wants it gone.
I'm going over there to see what it is. My first rescue!
Just thought y'all would be entertained....I'll post an update tonight when I get back.
Wish me luck.....

Re: Snake on the loose in RVA...
Good news and bad news.
Good news is Adam hasn't lost his touch. This coming from the guy who doesn't know 100.
Bad news is this. Appearantly what had happened was the new residents were subletting the apartment from the previous leasee. The previous resident had moved out and couldn't remove the snake, which had been wedged behind the sink for 2, maybe 3 weeks or more. I had a snake hook and it came out very easily. Turns out it was a gorgeous Peruvian Boa, can't miss that awesome pattern, a little thin, but no stuck sheds or anything so it was getting at least some attention before it got loose.
The current residents had been calling this girl all week to pick it up and get it out of there. She had yet to return any of their calls. They called her while I was there removing the snake, and she shows up. She thanked me, and wasn't overly concerned. She was under the impression that it was "hibernating." I tried to explain otherwise, and that being exposed to those temps, with no water, for weeks at a time is not good. She was one of those people who don't want to listen to advice and are convinced that they know how to care for the animal, regardless of what I have to say. Hey, what do I know? To make a long story short, she left with the snake and I left with a real bad feeling that boa is screwed.
Can't save them all!

Great job, too bad you couldn't convince her you were willing to give the animal the propper treatment it was gonna need. Im sorry ya couldn't have a new addition!

Re: Snake on the loose in RVA...
Pssh...the way that girl looked, that animal wasn't going ANYWHERE near my own collection. I was going to bring it to the pet store I used to work at per my old boss' request.
The owner of the snake had track marks on her arms and feet and looked like she was about to go into hypoglycemic shock. I didn't even want to take a risk at having an altercation with her.
