    Rest in Peace sam
Just wanted to say Rest in Peace for our little friend. He has been acting wierd and today he passed away. He has been an everyday part of out lives for a while and we will miss him greatly.

Got home, he was on the ground and couldn't stand up. Rushed to the vet and on the way there he started shaking and he couldn't support his head. Died right after he got to the vet and in his grandma's hands.
    RIP Sam

Thanks guys. This really sucks. Couldn't sleep at all last night and everytime I walk by his empty cage I just break down. This really sucks so damn bad. I really appreciate all the kind words.

Jake,as hard as it might be dispose of his cage as soon as possible. It makes dealing with him being gone alot easier.Do not just set it out by your garbage cans(unless its pickup day) take it and throw it in a dumpster somewhere.Remember we are all here for you anytime needed;) .

Sorry to hear of your loss , parrots are so loving and affectionate they are part of the family.
Was sam a jenday or a sun conure ? i always mix those guys up , i love birds.
I know its real difficult right now but joepythons is right about the cage situation , the longer its there the more upset you will become , i went through this when we lost our cockateil we had him for over 10 years and seeing his empty cage was unbearable i just had to bite the bullet and remove it.

Thanks Everyone. I don't think they are going to just throw the cage out. We will probably put it in the storage shed and if we decide to get another bird take it back out. Hopefully the pain will heal soon and I can resume a normal life

Thanks. The pain and seeing him dieing right in my eyes and I couldn't help him just makes me very sad. I guess the best thing to do is talk about it. Mom loves birds so much and I have a feeling she will bring another one home in the near future. I guess the house will be too quiet and wierd without a bird to greet you when you walk in the door.
Maybe he will come back as a snake?!?

*comfort* At least he was with you when he passed on and not alone and scared. I'm glad I was able to hold my kitty when he passed...

The pain does it better although it doesn't seem like it will right now...keep talking about him, tell us more cool stories about him so his memory will live on. =)

we have a lot of birds. a parrotlet, two canaries, 8 budgies and 6 cockatiels - i tried to rehome the budgies to take away some of the feather and seed mess... but our home sounded so quiet without them (and that's still having the others here) - even the other birds were depressed... so we brought them back home again and i couldn't be happier. the mess doesn't bother me anymore... since i found out what not having the mess sounded and felt like.

i hope your mom does bring a new bird home for you soon... :sunny:

Its so quiet. I walk into the room and I expect to be hit by a series of Happy Chirps and Screeches but instead I walk into the sound of complete silence.

You just get used to the noise - when I come home Charlie our caique normally starts shrieking - if sometimes he doesn't and I rush to the cage to make sure he's alright.

    WTH have I been??

Jake, I'm sooooo sorry to hear of the loss of your loved pet, but judging by your comment, it might be helpful to get another little buddy that you can enjoy the chirps and squeekings from.

Know that we understand and care  :petting: and send warm thoughts and prayers to you. He isn't in pain, and I'm sure he knew he was loved b/c U were there.

We've all lost beloved pets and understand that the grieving will take time to diminish. Cherish the memories, and take heart in knowing he's in a better place. :grouphug:
