    Introducing Helori
For any of you that missed the original thread, here it is...

    http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/s...ght=Orlah+eggs

One of our members, Cueball, being his usual generous self offered Mike and I one of his lovely female BP's after he read about the loss of our first clutch. This isn't the first time Cue has stepped up to the plate on this forum to offer a friendly bit of advice, help on rack building and husbandry, a buddy to go to a show with, and for a few of us...a lovely snake from his own collection. He's also incredibly goofy, off-the-wall crazy and funny as all get out. An all around great guy (well other than the Jimmy avatar which still gives me the creepy heebie jeebies! LOL)

So Cue from our family thanks for this lovely gesture and the gift of Helori who will arrive this coming Tuesday. She'll be a very treasured part of our collection and a valued future breeder female. Her name was a challenge for me as I wanted both a celtic name but also one that had a special meaning.
Helori (pronounced hey-lo-ree) means "generous". Winston Churchill said this, "We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give".

This new little BP is going to be our 5 year old, Mikey's, first BP. He told me recently that he was upset that "the man from the truck never brings me a snake mommy!" so little Helori will be officially his to watch over and help with. As soon as she's here we'll get a picture up with her new very proud little owner.

    Big hugs Cue!

    Helori....

Hugs back Cue. Hope you didn't mind the bit of mushiness I indulged in but it's awfully easy in our world, both offline and online, to complain about something or just plain forget to say thank you. I wanted to publically acknowledge your generous spirit even if I did get all girly and mushy on you. LOL

    Okay quick...somebody crack a joke here LOL.....Jamie?...Cue?...Adam? :)

Well according to the FedEx tracking number little Helori went on the truck for delivery a little over one hour ago so I have the big note on the door for the driver to ring bell repeatedly and knock loudly (I never trust them to not just drop a package on the porch...I'm so paranoid about that LOL) and I'm just itching to get my hands on the little beauty.

    Re: Introducing Helori
Yay for FedEx! Helori arrived here about 15 minutes ago in lovely shape and very well packed by Cue. She's a darling little snake and came out of her shipping container in a very calm mood, with no hissing or balling up at all. Pics to follow as soon as I get them off the camera and resized. Thanks again Cue! She's all tucked up in her warm side hide in our bedroom for her quiet time.

Okay as promised, here's a few shots of the newest little female before we popped her in her tub. Mikey's still at school so once he's checked her out, I'll post a pic of the new proud little owner and his first ball python.

I'll be getting some pics of Mikey with Helori over the next couple of days. He's very pleased and proud to get his own snake. Of course being a 5 year old boy he naturally was a bit ticked off Helori is a girl snake LOL. He's at that stage where all girls are icky (me included some days) and all things male are DA BOMB! I nearly fell over laughing as he discussed (very seriously for a 5 year old I might add) how Helori will grow up and he needs a boy snakie so they can make the babies and be parents LMAO!

Of course this is a child that showed the babysitter my big male rat's tank and said with all due reverence...."this is where the rats have the sex". I nearly died laughing! I must remember to watch my words around Mr. Big Ears LMAO. (okay so I've been known to mutter as I clean the rat colony..."okay you bunch, stop eating and lazing about and have some sex, I need some more feeders!")

    Re: Introducing Helori
Well you'll have to be patient Cue. We fed last night and little Helori who should have been content settling in her new home was out in full hunt mode, lurking from her cool side hide then climbing on and off it to see where in heck her rat was. She in our bedroom but I guess was able to sense the activity in the nearby snake room or something (or was just hungry from skipping her post-ship feeding night with you). I know I should have made her wait but we figured we'd try and she hit that rat fuzzy like a little freight train.

Little piggie was looking for round #2 but I figured one fuzzy was quite enough for her this week. She's a fantastic little eater Cue. We're just thrilled with her. However that means at least 48 hours before Mikey can hold her for the requested pics.....sorry.

Oh speaking of feeding night. Robin hope you are reading this, you'll get a chuckle. We tried tricking Ailish into taking a nice white rat pup last night instead of her usual adult mouse (well two of them actually). We even put the rat pups in with the adult white mice for 30 minutes hoping to transfer smell. Heck you could hardly tell them apart visually really! Smartie pants Ailish knew though. She checked that rat out from top to bottom, getting right in it's face, then I swear she glared at me and stuck her head under a coil to pout! LOL Of course when I removed said offensive white rat pup and replaced it with a white adult mouse....WHAM!...another please...WHAM! Muirne did the same thing basically. Neither Ailish or Muirne it seems will fall for the "I"m a rat but heck I smell kinda like a mouse so you should eat me right up" thing. LOL

Guess mouse breeding is definitely in my future!
