Pastel lines and Bumblebees
Has anyone noticed how each of the pastel lines affects a bumblebees coloring.

Re: Pastel lines and Bumblebees
yes, yes, yes The variability of the pastels is always seen in the bumble bee offspring, just like in a clutch of pastels you will see some dark ones and 1 or 2 in a clutch will catch your eyes as keepers. we are starting to see some dark and ugly bumble bees. I really dont think that you can narrow it down to specific lines of pastels, but its important to start out with the cleanest looking pastel to start a bee project. :)

Something else thats important to think about when making bees. your spider will make better bees if you choose reduced pattern spiders. :)

Re: Pastel lines and Bumblebees
I personally think that Lemon pastels create the best looking bumblebees, due to their high yellow and lack of browning out...as far as Pastel's and Super's go, Graziani's are my favourite line, hands down, I'm a huge sucker for the insane blushing, even though most brown out like mofo's LOL (like the 2 year old that I bought, insane blushing, but definitely not yellow anymore LOL) and really, what good is blushing when youre making bees? none IMO, which is why I will be getting a Lemon for the sole purpose of making Bumblebees, even though I already bought a wicked Graziani and dont much care for the Lemons LOL....that being said, I would also like to see some F2 and F3 Lemons.... Ive seen some F3 Graziani's, and man! they just POP! I think once Lemons get to F3 they will practically glow in the dark! LOL...anyone here have any Lemons that are F1 or beyond? (Ed? Adam?)

Heres a F 1 nerd lemon, hes good but you will have alot of lemons brown out also. I have a female lemon that just came up to size that I will try to breed to this guy. :) https://ball-pythons.net/gallery/fil...lemonmale2.JPG

Re: Pastel lines and Bumblebees
Thanks for asking this question Greenmonkey, I've wondered the same thing.
Another question, what combo makes a killer bee? Bee to bee? Super pastel to spider?
And what is the visible difference between a bee and a killer bee? Any comparison shots? I haven't seen many killer bees around . . . .

Re: Pastel lines and Bumblebees
I believe it's bumblebee x pastel
-
Re: Pastel lines and Bumblebees
bee x pastel
bee x super pastel = killerbees
killers rock! nerd had an adult in daytona. it was awesome. that is a fine looking snake.

Re: Pastel lines and Bumblebees
what is better than a killer bee?
an axanthic killer bee, those snakes are gorgeous!

Re: Pastel lines and Bumblebees
I agree that axanthic bee that NERD posted was just beautiful! I wonder how it will look in a couple of years?

Re: Pastel lines and Bumblebees
Chris, The nerd lemon in the pic is 2 years old, I bought 8 lemons to raise up. well out of that group I got only one lemon that I would call a keeper, the others darkened up quite a bit.
Alice, The killer bee is a super pastel spider. you can make them by breeding a pastel to a bumble bee. in my opinion the killers look very washed out. I prefer the bumble bees, they have a more intense yellow color. :)
