    crisis/issue please give suggestions!...
hey everyone for 5 weeks now, me and my dad have been arguing over the temp. issue in my house which is like this- when the temp is right for my BP, its too hot for my dad so he puts the air conditioning on......which lowers my BP terrarium to 75 which is bad......are there any suggestions on what to get for my baby to get outside of his hide (which is good temp) and to explore his cage once in a while?

Do you have a seperate heat source for your bp's enclosure?

I'd ditch the tank and get a rubbermaid storage container! Will keep the temps a lot more even!

PS. Don't you use some sort of heat sorce other then just your house heat?

You'll need to get a second heat source for the enclosure. You can't expect your Dad to change his personal comfort levels for your pet.

As for what to do to get your snake out and about more...well, you kinda chose the wrong snake if that's what you want. Most BP's spend 98% of their day sleeping. When mine is hungry, I may see her out for a few minutes in the evening, hoping to find a juicy rat laying around....but other than that, she lives the high-life of being as lazy as her wee little snakey heart desires.

I'd shut the vents off to that room, and maybe consider a space heater.

Your best choice is another UTH and another t-stat....or at least a dimmer switch. You can try a lamp or CHE (Ceramic Heat Emitter...puts out heat like a light bulb but does not produce light)....but those tend to interfere with your efforts to keep humidity at acceptable levels.

A small heating device. It's meant to heat a small space. ;) (similar to a small window AC unit, but for heat)

fyi, ball pythons typically sleep during the day and are active at night. Dont expect them to roam the cage all day long. :)

IMO, tanks are impossible to regulate unless you heat the temperatures around them, in the room they're in. Sell the tank and buy an r-maid; you'll make money in the process!

We have 3 of our 6 in tanks, and it was impossible to keep them at the right temp. and with the right humidity UNTIL.....we bought duct tape (we actually bought Gorilla brand tape...its a nice clean dark black) and then we took the screen top and did the following: we put aluminum foil shiny side down on the cooler side to help reflect some heat and keep it warmer on that end, and then placed the black tape over the whole thing, measuring out a space for our CHE..which we ended up ditching after we realized it actually runs fine now with PERFECT stats thanks to the tape and foil. Hope this helps....

I bought ours at Target because it's larger then the ones I could find at our wal-mart, and I needed one with out wheels to put into our rack. It was $14.99. It's the Sterilite 1996.
