Kingsnakes are super easy keepers. Mexican black kings are especially nice animals. I also like LLL. I've bought 4 animals from them. Very pleased.

LLL is good people. If you are in Southern California, you might also check out Amazon Reptile Center with two stores in Covina and Montclair (as well as online). Great folks and nice animals. They currently have a really nice selection of king hatchlings...Rick held an MBK there and was quite taken by her. =)
*Scary note: some drunk driver drove through the restaurant next door to the Montclair (original) store this past week, which also punctured through the Amazon Reptile wall. THANKFULLY it was the one part of the store where there are NO animals - just tanks and stuff for sale - and no animals were injured. Talk about scaaary...=P

Re: beginner snakes
ehh...would blood pythons be good beginner snakes? or are they better for intermediate keepers?
-
Re: beginner snakes
Blood pythons are more of an intermediate snake.... you have to keep a close eye on humidity levels, and they do get to be a fairly large snake. Many hatchlings and young snakes are "nippy" as well, so you can't be afraid of that kind of thing either.
If you have had your BP for a good amount of time and you know by talking to other snake keepers that you are providing it with the right environment, you may be ready for a snake with different needs.

Re: beginner snakes
Go for a cornsnake. They are fun and are SUPER easy to take care of.

Re: beginner snakes
Bloods are definitely an intermediate snake keeper's animal. They can be a handful, but they're wonderful!

Re: beginner snakes
and how big do they get? i ask that because my parents wouldnt want a big snake around the house.they were bragging to me about my BP and he doesnt even grow to 5 ft!!
