    Monty?
I was wondering the other day, and decided to post it. How many people here have, or have had a "monty" python.

I named my first BP Montgomery, so technically he's not a Monty, but that's what I call him, so.......Yep :D.

interesting... I would have thought the percentage would have worked out opposite it has. It seems like something everyone would name their first python thinking they are being all cute and creative, I am guilty of it with other names.

i was reading a book on snakes, and the most common name for pythons is monty, so i'm sure a lot of people have.

to me naming a python monty is like naming an iguina "iggy". so no monty.

my 8th grade science teacher had a boa constrictor.if i remember it was like 10 ft long or something, dont remember too well but it was huge!! and my biology teacher in my sophomore year in high school had 2 BP's, a gopher snake, and a rosy boa.

as for naming my BP monty...i thought of it for a second but i thought it was too "original" so i went with an egyptian god name instead.

    No Monty's here. :taz:

I do have an Altaïr, though. I always choose Middle-Eastern or African names for my slimy or scaly pets. :)

Nope. But my firstborn son's name is Monty. :D

Actually, as someone already said in reference to their python, his name is Montgomery, but we call him Monty. I'm thinking I do need to get him his own snake, though, so we can refer to it as "Monty's python."

    Re: Monty?
I have never had, nor do I have now, a Monty. The thought never really crossed my mind, since I've seen so many Montys...I've always looked at it like naming an iguana "Iggy," as well, just like a few of the members, here. ;)

My boyfriend and I go for odd names, or names we consider "metal." Well, with the exception of "Kona," our boa. He was named after coffee.

Actually Austin was "Monty" when I first got him and I thought it was such a clever name....(plus I am a huge Monty Python fan) and then I found this website and realized I wasn't so clever and plenty of other people had the same idea so we changed to Austin after Austin Powers...Oh Behave!

Yes, I have a Monty. We were tossing around names one day and said Monty jokingly, and that's what my 5 year old picked. It's his snake, but I take care of him. Now, I see so many Montys, so my husband said we should name him Montel.

I thought it was witty as hell when I got mine named that already. One of the first threads here was someone looking to change theirs's name from Monte though. I named him after the cobra in ricky ticky tavi instead lol

I voted yes back when this poll was put up, but technically it was my daughter's first BP, and she had it at her dad's house. It died when they treated it for mites, so when she wanted another one I decided to get it for her and keep it at my house. The rest, as they say, is history

On a sidenote, tonight we are going to see Spamalot :D
Would have been a lot better to see it in New York when Tim Curry was playing King Arthur, but this will do nicely. And it's not just my generation that loves the Python boys...my daughter and her boyfriend are just as excited about tonight as I am :P

I haven't personally but the first burm I ever saw or became acquainted with was Monty. He lived in the biology lab of the CC where I was a student and belonged to the prof. who was the head of the dept. That's where I REAAALLY started seriously considering getting a snake as a PET.

Caring for Monty, the boas, kings, diamondback, side-winder was soooo fascinating. Made me want to GET one. :D :D

Yep, same here. That movie was one of my favorites. :)

As far as naming the snake 'Monty', we had seriously thought about it because I have 'Holy Grail' memorized and am working on 'Life of Brian'.
However, seeing as we adore Harry Potter, we decided that Nagini would be perfect. Now, with our new corn snake, it looks like we may name him Albus. :D
