None. Whatever you get is going to be too big for that tank to fit. You will need to put MUCH time and effort into keeping one of these snakes, and it will be wise on your part to have about 2 other people keeping theis snake with you.

or a pigmy elephant. LOL jk, both types of snakes get BIG over time. You would def need more than one person to move them for cleaning etc. a 100 gal also would eventually become too small for either one in about 5 years or so in my opinion

With ANY snake.....a 100 gallon will be huge for a young specimen. So if you were to get a snake to put directly in the 100 gallon....you would have to purchase something that could handle the larger enclosure.

That is an great idea Judy. Red tails are a great 'step up' from smaller snakes and do not get anywhere close to the size of a burm. They are great animals too ;)

It depends on how big your ball python is and the dimensions of the 60 gal. The most common size for an adult ball python is a 40 gallon breeder.

If you like fish, that is a good size tank for a salt water set up. You could put a lot of live rock and pretty good size fish in it.
    - or a big snake. Just an idea:)

an annie is a big no no as they are far to advanced for someone with only bp and other easier species. green or yellow(annie)they are all the same. a male burm may fit into 100 gallon. i have some 10 ft adult male burms and 1 15 ft male burm which would never fit in a 100 gallon. either way its not worth it because burms are unpredictable when it comes to size. go with a female rtb. :)

yea like the others said before stepping up to giants get a red tail boa. Once you've kept him/her for a year or so try getting a blood python they get quite big without being considered a giant snake and are also a little more aggresive than red tails. So then after you've accumulated years of experience with larger and more aggressive snakes you may be ready for a burm. It's hard to fathom just how very strong a large burmese python can be.

there is no need to get a blood python as burms are not aggressive by nature. go from

    rtb-burm

I would definately not reccommend an anaconda if you are planning to use the 100 gal tank as a permanent home... it will out grow it. So will an adult Burm. It would be good for a blood python if you had something other than a screen lid. Bloods like higher humidity and it's hard to accomplish that with screen lids.

I would recommend small boas like the Hog Islands, or any boa as long as it is fed correctly during its adult life as well as its young life.

This may be a shot in the dark, but do you like lizards at all? I bet a pair of Bearded Dragons would love to live in a 100-gallon. Actually I bet a lot of lizard species would, just not an iguana. :P

I really have lkimited experience in this field, the most i have ever done with large snakes is admire, but if you have all the variables figured out I would definatly go with the BURME! They are very beautiful creatures, and i would love to have one my self.

the tank would be a TEMP home if i was to get a burm or anna. i have been doing research, also after he/she outgrows the tank, i would convert one of my bedrooms into a full out housing.

i hear there are problems with that. when this 12-15 foot snake decides it is real terrestrial(which this type of snake is), do you plan on just walking into his home? how do you intend for it to thermoregulate?

An easy way to negate that, if u put all that money in it, would be to get a strong plexy glass door so u can see him. I few mirrors would also help, in case he is next to the door where u cant see.

As an owner of both a burm and three anacondas I would not recommend either as a second snake species.

Red tailed boas are definitely a better choice as a step up from a ball python, or something like a blood python or one of a number of other medium sized boids. Leave the giants for a time when you have much more hands on experience.

Even a small male burm will need a 6'x2' cage as an adult.. many will need an 8' cage. A full size room is a poor choice for a snake as temperatures and humidity are far too unstable in that large an area.
