    Help!!!!!!
I have a 3 month old female bp (cyrin) Ive had her for a month and shes only eaten for me one time Ive had her to the vet many times and there is nothing internally wrong but i just cant get her to eat im at me wits end shes sooo small for her age. ive been trying live-f\t pinkies and nothing tempts her i have been told with her being born so close to fall\winter (hybernating season) that she may not eat on her own until the spring. Is this true and what do I do to get her weight up until then. Please help Ive tried just about every method out there and i don't want anything to happen to her b\c im quite attached. Im new to the herp world so any advice would be great:(

(I'll move this to Husbandry forum in a second)

What kind of husbandry details could you share? What are the temps in the enclosure? What time are you trying the feeding and how long have you had her? Are live pinkies somethign you could try?

    That is an absolute lie.

A ball python less than a year old should feed like a monster for it's entire first year .... if you have it set up correctly.

99.9% of the time when a hatchling won't eat, it's a husbandry issue.

You say you've had her for only a month and have taken her to the vet "many times"? Well it could be a stress thing if she keeps getting dragged out and poked about by a vet just after arriving at her new home.

My BP didn't eat for the first week I had her but I left her completely alone apart from changing her water.

Just noticed - the temps are a little low for the warm end - try bumping up warm end to 92-94.

see thats the thing ive only taken her one time to make sure there were no internal parasites and i only handle her every other day or two for about 15 minutes the only other thing that worries me is that in the past week shes not been active at nite like she has been in the past it seems unusual to me

Please take the time to re-read the caresheet... if your temps are as low as you say...she is not eating b/c she is too cool. BP's will often go off feed if they are kept too cool.

You should be providing her with belly heat to get your temps on the warm side to 92-94 degrees and 82-84 on the cool side.

A UTH on a good thermostat is preferable.

How are you measuring your temps?

Is the UTH on a thermostat?

Those stick on thermometers don't give accurate readings - you should get a digital thermometer/hygrometer - Walmart sells them in their hardware department for just $12 each.

Is your current thermometer measuring ground temps, or is it higher up in the enclosure?

Ball pythons don't require ANY supplemental lighting for heat.

yeah buy the humidity and temp. reader at Walmart, again ours was $11.50, after we spent over 25 bucks each on 4 diffrent ones, we found the $12 walmart one to read the same for half the price. Get a temp. gun to if you want to read the actual ground temp. Our read out on our humidity/temp. reader will tell us what the air is, but to read the ground temp. we use a temp. reader, which you point at the ground and push to get the reading. You can find them all over ranging in price to fit any budget.
One of our's also didnt eat for over a month when we got her, between having a new owner and new habitat, going to get sexed and everything else, she fianlly came around and ate for us last week.

    Good luck.

    Re: Help!!!!!!
get the setup correct first! proper temps are vital for success with ball pythons.

after the setup is correct, try a live hopper mouse.
