    Imriel got a new home
ok so i finally got Imriels tank all set up and all the numbers are where they should be (ignore that the cooler side temp reads very low in th epics, i had the heat lamp off it for a while before i took the pics, its back up now) He has been scooting all over the place doing some exploring of his new terrain.
    here are some pics!

thanks !! its acrylic and not glass so i think that is helping some.. and i have 75% of the screen top covered with tin foil... add in a UTH and a heat lamp and it seems to be doing quite well! ive had it up and running for about 3 days now and it seems pretty stable .. humidity is my only real issue.. i may just have to mist a couple of times a day as that seems to bring it up pretty quick and it stays in the range of 50-60% for quite a few hours.

You may just want to consider a humid hide during sheds as well. It's a given, considering you have a lamp you'll have to closely monitor the humidity. You can try a larger water dish as well, or maybe a second one under the heat lamp. Just a couple of ideas....

ya a humid hide might be in order.. as his water dish is huge (see pic) and it is right under the lamp.. but i will try misting it in the morning and evening and see how we do..

any suggestions on how to best construct a humid hide?

GORGEOUS! I love that temple hide!

The humid hides I use for the beauties are constructed as directed by our vet. Plastic rubbermaid tub, whatever snug-ish size suits your snake, with a hole cut in one end for entry. Fill the bottom with potting soil because no mold or anything will grow in that (no fertilizer or anything in said soil!) make it nice and moist, and just check on the moisture every so often. Voila! Ma-tsu loves hers, it's part of her beauty regimen, and Neptune only uses his when he's about to shed and/or poo. (snakey litter box  ) Hope that helps!

EDIT: Oh yeah, and I sand down the plastic hole just to make sure there's no sharp edges after I cut it. I use a lot of sand paper when I make things for the scale kids. Spoiled.

A rubbermaid-like container will work well. I used a soldering iron to melt an opening. Then just put in a damp paper towel or moss. I like the paper towel for the ease of use and cleaning. Plus you can keep a closer eye on potential mold. And voila .. humid hide.

Everything looks good. Do you have a day bulb and a night bulb (red or blue) ?
