A update on Ray (Blind BP) DUW!!!
Hi everyone, I have an update on Ray.

Since we first posted about him, he has been through a shed, and as of last night has ate for the third straight week for us. After shedding he looks sooooooooooo much better it is unbelievable. He went to the Vet on Monday (and Ray is a he), and he may not be 100% blind. The vet said he could see the cloudiness (probably blood from when the retina was pulled away from the back of the eye), but the top portions appear clear. Ray reacts when you move in front of him now, but its hard to say if that is his site, or other senses. Also we have had to treat him for mites  , but he is really coming around!!!!!

Anyway, here is a link to the thread with the original pictures ....

    http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/s...ad.php?t=34770

And here are a few pics of him today ....

I think his progress is a testament to how good (some of) the advice on this site is. Thanks to all who contribute .... :sweeet:

Thanks guys ... when I saw him the first time afters hed I could not believe the difference. He still looked really swollen, but he looked like he had eyes, and not just scar tissue. The swelling has really subsided over the last week.

I just makes me feel good to see him doing better. :)

Oh my gosh!!! I saw the other thread, and my heart completely went out for the snake. THATS HORRIBLE!!!!:O  That pet store should've done there research about getting off retained eye caps!! I am soo mad and sad its overwhelming. But luckily the poor thing is with you and looks BEAUTIFUL!!!! Thank you so very much for taking in this snake. Her eyes actually look a lot better. Who knows.. Maybe she can see now? I am soo proud and overjoyed that you took her in. She is a babe, seriously! She looks great!

Thats great, with Ray he was a little hesitant the first week, but has been all over the rats the last two. The people that gave him to the pets store said he had not eaten all summer, so that really shows what the proper conditions do for them ....

Congrats, he looks great! :sweeet: You might be able to test his eyesight with something that doesn't give off an odor or heat such as a yard stick or something similar. Just a thought...

That is a great idea, I noticed he is more responsive when we open his tub and move his hide. That first week he did not even flinch. I think part of it was that he was also dehydrated. I have never seen a snake drink like that. We changed the water every other day, and the first few times he went straight to it.

Anyway, I will try that tomorrow Lawrence and update the post.

    Thanks!!!!

amazing. that shed really helped him out a lot. and apparently so did you. great work. it is possible for his sight to even come back ? and if his sight is gone, wouldnt that make his heat sensing stronger?
