Been converted! So what you think?!
Finally my 'difficult-as-you-like-but-rather-pretty' wooden enclosure has gone to ebay...and my tub is now set up!! Already I've noticed how much easier EVERYTHING is in a tub! I soon got over the fact I couldn't see my BP as well as I could, I see him everyday when handling anyway!!
Thanks to all of you for the advice leading up to this! Does this setup look ok? I have 2 UTHs running through 2 seperate proportional thermostats to keep each end at 82F and 92F!
    Cheers again everyone!

What size tub is that? I have seen those hides before and there rather big. How big is your bp?

The tub is 32" x 15". The hides are a little big at the mo but Ive padded them out with newspaper so they are more cosy and secure. Did you mean how 'big' is my BP? Not measured or weighed him accurately but from following the info on this site he's the right size for that size tub. I've done a LOT of research on this so I hope its ok.

I only know tubs by the amount of "qt." How many "qt" is it? Yes how big... do you have a guess in length?

If your temps/humidity are correct and the hides are "tight" fitting, then you got your self a nice setup there! :)

oh yeah, I will be getting a smaller water bowl aswell. The one shown is one left over from another snake but Ive ordered a more suitable one which wont keep humidity at silly high levels like this one does!

Yes but your bp needs something he/she can soak in when it comes time to shed.

In my experience, I have never seen a snake soak itself during a shed cycle while living in a plastic enclosure. Also, I have received perfect sheds everytime.:)

Mine is soaking in his tub right now. But then again he ate his first adult mouse at 4 months old. He could be useing it to relieve the pressure.

No they don't. Keep the humidity correct (which a tub set-up generally does) and there's no need to offer a bowl large enough to soak in. I don't give any of mine bowls large enough to soak in (other than the babies - but only because they all get the same size bowl and haven't outgrown them yet - but even they don't soak before a shed).

To the OP - your tub set up looks GREAT! Good job, and welcome to the world of tubs! You're gonna love it!

Shotty, you have a very nice looking tub there for your BP! I wouldn't worry about the water dish to much, since a lot of snakes don't soak. You sias you just use a humid hide in there and if your snake has good sheds, sooo well keep up what you are doing! Good work!

    Very nice setup!

I have one that always coils up in her water bowl before shedding...none of the others do. All in the same rack, same temps, same humidity...

It looks great! My only suggestion would be that you may need to add some more holes in order to keep the humidity down. But if I were a BP, I'd wanna live there for sure! :D
