    Rescue Attempt?!
Well I had to go by the local pet store today to pick up some mice (feeding day!) and I stumbled across this little albino cornsnake. they were asking for $50 to purchase it so I asked if I could hold it (bad idea... holding leads to buying!). Well it just so happened the guy that got him out for me the was the "reptile man" of the store. He told me that he hasn't eaten in a couple weeks (he refused to) so he would sell him to me for $35. I was holding him and checking him out (you know the routine) and stumbled across this blackish spot on his belly... not on the outside but it appears to be on the inside? It looked liked internal bleeding IMO. I decided to buy him! I wanted to give him a better chance of surviving in my home rather than a poor death at a pet store. I must also mention there were about 4 other corns stationed in the same little plastic container. I figured he went off feed (not sure if he ever ate in the first place) due to stress from the other corns he was with (no hides at all!). All in all I have him/her here at my house set up in his new home. Hopefully I will be able to get him to eat... I'm going to wait a couple of days before my first attempt. Im not sure about the black spot... I left my camera at work tommorow I will bring it home and take some pics. Any advice, insight and or opinions about the matter? Please share.

Kilo when you do get a pinky try to get a smaller one since it is probably his first meal.I have seen numerous albino and snow corns insides by just looking at them it is a weird thing to see. What do you have its temps at? Corns need there temps to be close to 80 degrees.Let me know if you have any questions ;)

Kilo, your temps are ok.Some call the albino corns, amelinistic or red albino and they are all the same corn. Now make sure he does not have any gaps in the lid as they will escape thru any little gap beleive me :P .

Never say no chance to escape to a corn snake lol.:P How do you have some water in their for it? Are you talking about those littel deli cups they place little corns in at the shows? It can not live in that container for long if thats what you have it in.Get a 6qt tub and make sure the lid fits tight.

no no no lol I would never house any animal in a deli cup lol... Im refering to a plastice container that is about 8 in x 4 in and about 7 in high. The lid has a smaller clear square in the middle of it that opens and the rest is nothing but holes. he has a water bowl a hide and forest bark substrate.

We had an albino corn before. You can actually see the food inside their bodies, and see the whole upper part of the chest. Also you will be able to notice when you lil tike will take a poo. Congrats on the snake! They were obviously not taking care of the poor thing!! Ofcourse quaratine the poor thing and wait a few days till you feed it. Congrats and I'll be preying for you and your lil guy:)

Well... at least you are doing all that you can no matter what happens. I don't know if I would ever say there is NO chance of escape. I had a corn that learned how to get out of a critter keeper.

Thanks Dougie. I'm pretty much hoping that for his size (hatchling size) he has no chance of escape. He seems to be so active and lively. I think thursday he will eat with no problem. Ouch I just jinxed myself...
