    T3 Question
So were are getting our T3..Brian is on the phone with AP.

My question is, should we have them cut out a portion of the top for our ceramic heat emitter or no?

I thought we should, but the woman on the phone said the biggest problem they here with it having an opening is that humidity is hard to keep. Well being that we have a 55 gallon with a screen top...I am sure we could manage it.

I just wanted to get everyones 2 cents.

    Re: T3 Question
I don't have a T3 myself, but I do hope to get some in the future. I've read a lot about them. If it were me, I wouldn't want to use a CHE or any other overhead heat source. I'd get both ends of the enclosure wired with separate heat cords. I'd hook one up to a T-stat and warm it to the ideal "warm side" temps...and see if that in itself is enough to provide the proper gradient. If it's not, then I'd fire up the "cool side" cord as well.

T3 is an acrylic enclosure from AnimalPlastics. It is this:

    Re: T3 Question
I have a T3 and although I never used it for BPs, I would recommend not getting the holes. No need for a CHE when belly heat will get the job done with no humidity issues..Unless your room is exceptionally chilly and you need additional heat.

Yeah Florida gets so brisk in the winter :D

No need for the screen and CHE. Go with the under tank heat (either flexwatt or heat cable) and a good tstat and with your 92-94 on the hot side, you will get that 82-84 on the cool without a problem.

    Was tempted!

Anyway, to let you (and everyone know) our T3 is now officially ordered. They are running around 2 to 2 1/2 weeks for delivery. We got the T3 with swing doors, belly heat and door locks installed, a flourescent light installed for cleaning, and a solid top - no openings for top heat lamps. Doesn't sound like we will need them! We will post some pics when we get it all set up!

On this note, does anyone have any decent knowledge of the Spider Robotics Herpstat thermostats. I need to order one to control the belly heat coil. The basic Herpstat seems to be sufficient. However, the next model up, the Herpstat ND, lists a "Coil Warming feature for enclosures using heating coils to increase accuracy." Anyone know about this? Since we are using a heat coil, is it worth the extra $26 to get the upgrade with the coil warming feature?

    Thanks!

Good deal! As far as the Herpstats, the only difference between the regular and the ND as far as I am aware is that the ND has a night drop feature for breeding. I would go with the regular one. Dion from Spyder Robotics is a super guy and his pricing is the best on them. www.spyderrobotics.com .
