Zeke Then and Now(pix)

have had Zeke since August 6th. Has eaten 5 times since then. This last feed I moved from small adult mice to a decent size rat pup. I really was not sure if he would be able to eat the one I got. I know it says 1 1/2 to 2 times his girth and this was 2 times his girth but I was still worried. Needless to say my little piggy took it down with no problems :)

Your young Zeke looks like my boy when he was younger, but mine is a lot darker now. And a bit over 5ft long. Beautiful snake.

You got him on my birthday! :)

He's a cutie, and he looks really curious. Isn't it fun when they get into everything? :P

yeah he is soooooo funny when I have him out. He tries to get back behind and under everything. I sat here with the camera last night just LMAO at all the different areas he was going to as I was taking pics. I put him in on my bed and let me tell ya the little bugger can move fast! One minute he was there the next he flew under my pillow!

you sure zeke is male? looks a little on the plump side with a short tail. i know it isn't a sure fire way to sex, but is usually right.

OMG Have never had Zeke sexed but I told my hubby that I thought Zeke was a girl!!!!

Like all male snakes they have a pouch in their tail that has the hemipenese. If you feel a bump past the cloaca (few scales past) then it is more than likely a boy. But if not... GIRL! lol. You should get Zeke probed or popped. :)

I heard the bump thing is one of the worst ways to tell if it is male or female. But hey, whatever you want.

Oh thats why I always say probing and popping is the actual only way because all snake vary. But my male snake seems to have a "bump" 4-5 scales after his cloaca.

I was never really a fan of dark BPs but wow! :snake:

He/She also looks like hes gained alot of weight since youve gotten him! :D

He's a beautiful fella! (Or gal....I take the suggestions of the short tail with a grain of salt...but if he's never been popped or probed, then anyone has a 50/50 chance of guessing right! LOL)

So who can probe or pop. I would like to know for sure

I would help you out but we probably live in different areas. And once you learn how to probe and/or pop its very simple. But popping should only be done on young animals.

I have not yet learned....but I'll bet ya Ken can teach us both. I've been meaning to ask him and just haven't gotten to that particular question yet. LOL

Great idea did not even think of that! I am actually in the process of trying to set up a good time for both of us for me and Johnnie to go over and check out his collection :)

I'm not sure where you read it, but most people here only feed items that are the same size or a bit smaller than the girth. Twice the girth may be a bit big, and result in fasting.
