    Idea for water bowl...Pics included!!
So I went to PetSmart and found a Lixit Dog Carrier Cage Crock...this thing is basically a clamp on water dish for dog cages....I thought this would work well with a plastic tub....I thought about some people having problems with their snakes turning over the water dish...and this is how it turned out...It works well, but it does require a little bit of work...

The bowl just slides in and you turn it to secure it..I guarantee no snake will knock that off....it was about 6 bucks...that's about the price you pay for a good solid dog dish...

    What do you guys think?

I don't ever have any problems with snakes knocking over water dishes ... And in my collectionn, I also like the fact that they can move them around ... to me, it seems like it gives them something to do when they're crawling around the tub ... almost like it helps to stimulate them.

    Just my $.02.

I use these in a couple of bird cages they're wonderful there, too. Just make sure there's no chance for a snake to get wedged under/around the crock in any way (but that's just my paranoid snake mom side speaking). You'd be amazed @ what snakes can get themselves into.

    Great idea!

Awesome idea. My snakes LOVE to tip over the water dishes. The other day I was griping about it to them. Not that they care.

I used to use these for my pet rat cages years ago, they do work great, never tipped over and were a cinch to pull out and put back during cleaning

I use disposable 16 oz cups from the chineese restraunt and use 4 inch pipe fittings from home depot. The cups can be recycled and the pipe fittings can be put in the dishwasher.

Thanks for all the feedback. I bought it with the intention on just seeing how it works out. Honestly, I prefer a mobile water dish, and i know around breeding season, females like to wrap around their bowl sometimes.

I just wanted some input on the idea.

I used the regular bowl and hated the cleaning when I had alot of snakes. So these seemed easier. Now it is just a habbit. I change them out once a month or sooner if they get really dirty. The pipes I bought at home depot let them coil around, but not under the bowl. It works for me. Todd

I use the disposable gladware containers with a hole cut out the top. My snakes like to soak in there quite often. it has never tipped over...even during feeding time bumps.

Be careful ... I've know people that have had ball pythons drown in those glad containers with holes cut in the lid.

That seems like a neat idea; my BCI always tipped water everywhere until I got him a nice hefty ceramic dog bowl.

People i think get offended when we don't give a huge long answer and take it bad. If you ask will you sell them and you say no. Then thats the answer to your question. Don't take it personal. LOL I've gotten a few of those.
