Re: Please remember 9/11
Thanks joepythons. We will NEVER forget those that lost their lives that day 5 years ago. I plan to fly my flag proudly from our porch, in honor of them, all veterans and current soldiers (and their families of course) I would also like to say a big "thank you" to anyone that has served or is currently serving our country.

Re: Please remember 9/11
Joe,
You beat me too it as usual. I was going to post an "in memory" thread tomorrow morning, but yours is just as good as mine would have been.
I would like to wish everyone a safe and healthy September 11th 2006. Many of my friends did not make it here today because of that horrific event. I would again like to send out my condolences to the families that lost loved ones. Though taken from this earth, they will always live on in our hearts and will never be forgotten. For the 2,752 innocent souls that perished, Rest in Peace.
Thanks Joe for remembering the fallen,
:( Danny

Re: Please remember 9/11
I was taking a Calculus exam... needless to say, the exam was postponed to another day.
That was such a wierd day. I remember my dad coming home from work and just hugging my mom forever...
Yes, a BIG thank you to every who has volunteered and worked and been apart of the rescues, clean-up, and rebuilding. And another BIG thanks to the men and women still fighting.

Re: Please remember 9/11
Yeah, I was thinking about it being five years today when I got up this morning...:(
I was actually laying in bed, reading, when I heard about it. My mom called to tell me her husband was fine (which is an odd way to find out but I guess he travels a lot). I was all "Um, okay...why are you telling me this?".
I immediately threw a robe over my jammies and ran next door. I haven't had a TV since 1995, but I needed one that day. Woke up my neighbors, who were pretty grumpy I had til I told them, then we moved back and forth their TV in the bedroom (CNN) to the TV in the living room (KTLA).
Big salute to all the military and emergency response personnel and volunteers who helped that day, gave their lives that day and who continue to put their lives on the line everyday. You do us proud.

Re: Please remember 9/11
Very Sensitive material follows -- do not read if you get upset by 9/11.
I am an early worker. I work in Two Penn Plazza on the 29th floor. (right above Madison Square Garden). There was a scream from down the hall and everyone ran to the window. This was the first plane that hit. I didn't see it. But we all huddled around the window watching the smoke and flames. Then we all saw the second plane crash into the building with great force -- some of the plane shot through the other side. At this time the division director said this can't be a coincidence everyone go home. I was on the #1 subway crossing the bridge between Manhattan and the Bronx when the Tower #2 collapsed. The train stopped and made an announcement. We went directly to the end of the line and all traffic on the #1 stopped (this is the line that went under the WTC). Many of my friends are paramedics and they have told me stories that can never be repeated, and will allways stay with them and me. When I got home I picked up my kids from school, and on the way back my wife who works for the City of Yonkers Public Library, told me that the police that patrol the library were sent to the downtown business district of Yonkers (Getty Square) to police a large demonstration of Arabs that were burning American flags and celebrating. Without the police to protect them, I am not sure what the locals would have done. We have a VERY LARGE Arab population in Yonkers. It still bothers me to this day that we give freedoms to people that do not deserve them. Freedoms bought with the blood of my uncles, grandfathers, and many forefathers. I was a peace-time solder (US Army 1978-84).
We must remember both the people that perished, and why they perished. The holy Jihad will not go away all by itself.:irkd:
I REALLY like this forum -- Sorry to hijack it.

Re: Please remember 9/11
I remember walking to class and seeing a friend who told me about about the first plane. I knew it was really bad, but I just assumed that it was a plane crash from a malfunction. When I got to class the TV was on and I realized just how huge it was. My teachers husband was supposed to be on the plane that went into the Pentagon but overslept and missed his flight. No one knew what to say to her since she thought he was on the plane because he didn't call her to tell her he missed his flight yet.
I just can't say enough about the military, one of my best friends is in Afghanistan right now. Just knowing what those guys are going through over there gives me more respect for them than I could ever express in words.

Re: Please remember 9/11
I remeber I was watching the morning news here in AZ when it broke through. I was totally stunned and then went a litlle bonkers. I am originally from New York and all of my family still lives there. I had a little brother at the time living in the city working as a DOC gaurd. The first think I did was call my family. My dad is a fireman and I wanted to make sure that he was ok and his firehouse had been deployed from our town to help. It had not as we lived to far away.
This will be remembered as the most devastating day in the history of the United States. Please remember that not only the twin towers but the people who fought the terrorists and ultimately crashed the plane and perished. Remember all the brave rescue members, the troops that have already perished and the ones that are still fighting for our freedoms. God Bless America :salute:

Re: Please remember 9/11
I was getting up to go to work... (Late shift) and my TV came on.... I thougt "What movie is this, I havn't seen it before".... Then the news anchor came on over the screen and anounced the second plane in rout... I couldn't breathe....
Side note... The only good thing (for lack of better words) for me that resulted from our attack was how kind everyone was to eachother afterwards. People let you over in traffic, strangers opened doors for you, I've never felt that before. Strangers smiling and waveing...

Re: Please remember 9/11
I was at home with my son, and was due to have my daughter within two weeks. My husband called to tell me. (if the tv is on it's usually tuned to cartoons) I just remember watching in total shock and horror. My father is a firefighter in MD, and I was terrified for him. My thoughts and prayers go out to all those families who lost loved ones, and for all the military personnel and their families. I cry when I think of all the children born, who will never know a parent because of this terrible act.

Re: Please remember 9/11
I don't even know where to start. I was working that day I went to the cafeteria to get some soda and saw the coverage. At first I thought why are they playing the movie Armageddon but then I noticed it was real , I saw the second airplane hit then we knew the truth. RIP to the victims of this horrific tragedy , these savages will get whats coming to them. God bless our proud men and women in uniform on the hunt for all terrorists. You have our complete support.

RIP and God bless those lost and affected. May infernal death befall those who wish to strip us of our western civilization.

I was working for a novelty distributing comapny out of Oswego, Illinois... we were listening to the radio and heard the coverage, our boss went into the backroom and pulled out an old black n white tv for us to see the coverage, once we saw just how aweful it really was, we closed the office and went home. After I got home, I was even more scared because even though we lived just a few blocks from the school, they were on lock down and would not even let me come pick up my kids to bring them home... had to sit all day alone at home crying and feeling horrible while watching the news coverage on CNN (by the way, today CNN is broadcasting the news coverage from the very day this happened, in its entirety till midnight tonight)... I cried for the horror those who passed away must have felt, I cried for thier loved ones who were to find out they lost one of theirs.. it was a very very sad day for me, I will never forget it.... and I will never forget those who lost thier lives that day. To this day, it is a very sad moment in my life even though it did not directly effect me by taking one of my loved ones... I still cry about it when I think about it....

Re: Please remember 9/11
I remember that day. My whole family is from New York, and we had been living in AZ at the time.
My mom came into the room and woke me up with the phrase "We are under attack". I was a little confused, but she had turned on my TV and was sitting at the foot of my bed. I looked on as a tower on TV was burning and the images of the plane striking played over and over.
Throughout the day we heard more and more about it. My family all called in saying they were fine.
Interesting side note. My uncle was one of the people that worked in investigating the attack. He works for the FBI in a terrorist faction. I don't know a whole lot, because I'm not really allowed to, to be honest. I just know that he left over seas a few days after it happened and he couldn't tell anyone why or where he left to.
Crazy, no?
