    New horsey pics
Took a few shots today of the bunch; I can't believe how fast these babies grow. Domingo (the colored colt) was born April 30th, and Jenny (the solid chestnut filly) in mid June. Cuesta is the solid mare and Emma the mostly white pinto. Couldn't get a good shot of Domingo, sorry.
    Enjoy!

A favorite equine pastime.. standing around, eating.

Emma: Her eyeliner looks better than mine.

Jenny! I am stunned at how huge she is.

Nice pics! My wife just got home a bit ago from a horse show and she is all excited. She got second place in both rides/tests.

    Thanks!
Joe, they kinda do the horsey version of rolling their eyes and sighing; oh no, she's at it again, lol.
Unfortunately, things didn't go the way I would've liked for our two mares this year; I never intended or planned on breeding them; my friend had them at her place, and a stud got out (that's what she says.) At the time, I only owned Emma, and she owned Cuesta so had her bred voluntarily and we ended up buying her in December; but I really, Really wish we could have just trained, worked with them this summer instead of them being "barefoot and pregnant." (not that barefoot/shoeless is bad, just using the expression hehe.) But next year, they are in for some serious training; plan on building a roundpen and getting them into shape. Cuesta already has alot of riding miles on her; her former owner was a young boy who did trails on her and trained her from foalhood. But Emma is only a greenine under saddle and needs a ton of desensitization, etc.

Yes, this view is priceless; it is a LOT of work living out here, what ever season it is; but I could not live anywhere else. :)

Tek, congrats to your wife; what disciplines does she do?

My wife does strictly Dressage. She is the barn manager of West Michigan Equestrian Center. Basically she takes care of at least 30 or so horses a day doing the normal feeding, cleaning, etc. She also does much of the actual training and breaking of horses for other people. As of this summer she has started teaching some of the classes they offer also. She tells me teaching humans isn't really want she wants to do but its more money when she does it...something about not being able to smack the riders when they do something stupid :P

She just started showing again this summer after getting sponsored by another trainer she works with. Its been a few years since she has shown but she is already climbing quickly with just this summer's events.

That is awesome; I have a ton of respect for good dressage riders (and horses.) Good for her!

I would love to have a horse, but they are just so much time and work for someone like me who would just want to ride it like once a month. Too bad you can't just rent a horse.. haha

You can. Every city I've ever lived in has had some sort of stables that rent horses. Some of them are for "trail riding" only and you have to follow the pack...but if you look hard enough, and if you're lucky, you may find a stable local to you that rents for "free rein" riding.

You can always find somewhere to rent a horse by thr hour, or day.. trail riding places seem to be everywhere..
I am more into the ownership/care aspect of them; to be honest with you, I haven't ridden in about a year. But I have been mostly the sole person resp. for their care; Emma for about a year, Cuesta since December, and the babies since last spring.. Mark does help a lot. We are having issues now because our ATV was wrecked in the crash, and we are waiting on the ladie's insurance co. to payoff the damaged one so we can refinance a nice new one; it is horrible using our landlord's ATV to take out the manure w/ our cart; it is ancient and won't start half the time! But we make do.
