A Proud day for our Family (DU Warning)
Today, we celebrated the promotion of my husband from Major to Lt. Colonel. I'm so proud of him I could just bust! He's the love of my life, my very best friend, an awesome daddy...and the best officer in the USAF! :salute:

The "pinning on" ceremony is quite involved, and includes the whole family playing a part. Unfortunately, the pictures didn't turn out so well...the lighting was terrible, and the guy using my camera must have had it set on "landscape" or some other weird setting. I've never seen my camera spit out such consistently bad pics. LOL But I need to share 'em anyhow...

    Such a great day!

My handsome hubby as a Major...

Me and the Group Commander, Col Bacon...pinning on Dean's new rank...

The kids put his new epelets(sp?) on his shirt...

We didn't get a picture of it, but our youngest, Nathaniel, presented Dean with his cap with the new rank on it.

Dean re-pledging his oath of office. An interesting fact some may not know...it's the exact same oath that the President takes.

A lighthearted moment because Col. Bacon forgot the lines of the oath he was administering and had to pull out his "cheat sheet."

    His VERY proud family!

My sexy hubby as a Lt. Colonel!

THANK YOU for letting me share!!!

That's great. I spent five years in the Marine Corps (Sergeant), so I know how much one of those ceremonies mean.

    Thank you so much, everyone!

I'll be sure to tell my hubby that some of the ladies here think he's hot. It'll make him blush! :halohorn:

The littlest guy is Nathaniel. He just turned four this summer. Hard to believe when I look at that picture because he looks SO tall! I tried to tell him that he's supposed to be my baby forever, but he's growing up anyhow. :hmm: :P

We really are all so proud of him. And I'm also proud of my children and how well they handle all the sacrifices demanded of them...having Daddy go away for weeks or months at a time....and moving so darned often...leaving schools and friends behind. They're great kids!!!

Wow! What an honor & privilege to know that we have such dedicated, passionate folks involved in our Nation's armed services.

Dean & Judy, and your lovely family...

Thank you so much for sharing such an awesome & sacred event with the rest of here at B-P.net.

Dean: Thank you for serving our country. Having spent some time with your wonderful wife, I have a maybe just a little bit of a tiny glimpse into the *slightest* inkling of what you're willing to sacrifice in the name of fighting for what you believe. I don't know that I can necessarily comprehend the depth of character that military service would command, especially from a man with a family like yours. All I can say is thank you, regardless of how trite that may sound. I hope and pray that you are never separated from your loved ones as a result of the commitment you've made to honor & protect your nation.

Judy: You know I already think you're an awesome woman. To be willing to support your beloved husband during his endeavors to serve & protect the US speaks volumes of you as well. I think at some point or another we've all encountered the "jaded military wife," and to see you counteract and avoid the resentment to which other women have fallen prey, demonstrates your courage as well...you are a homefront & family soldier!

Your beautiful children - and their unselfishness regarding Dean's duty to this country - are a living, breathing testimony of the diligence, love and compassion that you've both put into raising them. If they mature into a TENTH of the wonderful folks their parents are, this world will be a million times better for it!!

We are ALL so blessed to encounter a family like yours during the course of our respective lives...

God bless & keep you safe!!!!!

    K~
