Clown (and a repost of my Stripe)
Another snake that should be here in a few months. I'm also supposed to pick up 0.2 breeder het albino females from Long Island Exotics, but my bank doesn't seem to like putting money that I deposit into my account. I deposited some money this morning for the down payment, but it still hasn't went through. Hopefully it will go through by tonight so Rob doesn't think I'm not serious about it. The same thing happened with the down payment on my stripe.

    This years total so far:
    1.0 Perfect Stripe
    0.1 het Stripe
    1.0 Clown
    0.1 het Clown
    0.2 proven het albinos

And here's my stripe, again. I know the same picture has been posted, but I can't stop looking at it so I figured I'd throw it in for good measure.

Sorry about the picture sizes, I accidentally copied the url for the full sized picture rather than the thumbnail. Is there any way for me to edit it to so the smaller pictures can be displayed rather than the url to the full sized ones? If not, would a mod be so kind as to add -med before .jpg for me?

    There we go. :)

They really are awesome snakes! I love clowns. The reduced pattern ones are always impressive, but I love ones with patterns as well. Yours is gorgeous! And of course, that wee little stripe is to die for!

Looks like you are putting together a very nice collection there! That is definitely a steller looking Genetic Stripe as well. I especially love the really clean patternless sides on him!

Simple recessive projects are really great to work with. I can't wait to see more simple recessive combos in the future. What do you plan on breeding the two het. Albino girls to?

    Thanks,
    Celia

Thanks. I prefer the reduced pattern ones too, but I didn't notice any for sale until I commited to get this one. Not a big deal though; this one is still pretty nice.

I certainly did luck out with finding such a nice stripe.

I'll probably breed the het girls to my albino. I've been raising up 5 het stripes for a few years now (got the first when I was 13), only to find out that every one of them are fakes. Three came from TSE, and the other 2 came from a guy named Sean Bradey who was apparently buying 50% hets and selling them as 100%. Maybe I'll get lucky with mine. They certainly took long enough to grow. I've had the two of them for 4 years now and they still haven't hit 1000 grams yet.

I'm so sorry to hear about your bad luck with the female Het. Genetic Stripes - that is really horrible. I find it absolutely dispicable what some individuals are capable of doing to unsuspecting people. Were you able to get any sort of retribution for the females that didn't prove out? I think TSE (Top Shelf Exotics?) is still around selling animals...? I don't know what happened to Sean Brady though.

From what I've noticed about our Stripe stock, they seem to have incredibly strong genetics. I would say that our Genetic Stripes are even more agressive feeders and growers than our Spiders. This year, we had 7 our of 8 of our possible het. Genetic Stripe females produce for us at approximately 34 to 36 months of age and a female Genetic Stripe that we produced gave us a good clutch of eggs at 20 months old.

I'm surprised to hear that your girls have been giving you so many problems with growing. However, if you look at the bright side of things at least they'll have the advantage of age on their side which I have found over the years to be very important!

    Thanks,
    Celia

p.s. I see on your profile that you are in Louisiana too! Where in Louisiana are you?

Sorry about that. I meant to say 5 het albinos. TSE went and disappeared once people started questioning their hets, and Sean has been gone for a couple of years now. TSE has quite a few people looking for them.

I can't figure out what's up with the girls I've been raising. Not one of them has ever missed a meal in their lives, but they still hardly grow. Atleast I'll be able to breed one of them next year.

I'm in Slidell. I seen you guys at a show here once, but that was about it. I think it was the same year you hatched out your first stripes because I remember going there in hope of seeing one in person. Not many other good breeders show up down here unfortunately, and so far I haven't been lucky enough to attend a show anywhere else.

Oops, LOL. For Het. Albinos, I think we had a bit of trouble raising up the original hets. that we purchased. I think many of them fed well until they reached around 1000 grams and then just stopped eating for a spell. That is really strange that your females continue to eat but just don't grow. Just out of curiousity did you try breeding them this last season?

That's cool that you're in Slidell! We're not that far from each other - maybe about 15 minutes or so. Unfortunately, we haven't done any of the local shows recently. The last local show that we did was the Slidell show a few years ago. We mostly just do the larger shows now - Daytona and Tinley Park (Chicago). This year we're thinking of doing the Indy show too (in November) and we will be going to the Arlington show in February. If you can ever make it to Daytona or Tinley Park, those are definitely two great shows!

Have you ever stopped by our facility? We have a small retail area and are open regular hours to the general public. If you are ever in the area, feel free to stop by. We welcome visitors and Sean (BradLEy not Brady LOL) and I are always interested in meeting new enthusiasts/breeders, especially local people! We would be happy to show you around (the areas that aren't open to the general public) and just "talk reptiles".

    Thanks,
    Celia

LOL. That was quite a mix up on my part. Only one of them is near breeding size, but I didn't try breeding her. She was only around 800-900 grams last time I checked, and I don't think she's grown much since. She should be good for next year, though.

I've been trying to talk my parent into bringing me to Daytona for years now, but they won't let me because it takes place the same week that school starts. I'll be out of high school by the time it comes around next year though, so maybe I'll be able to go then.

I haven't gotten to stop by yet, although I was actually planning on doing it just a week or two ago. I would probably feel rather awkward taking the tour of someone facility if I had no means to get anything. I'm wierd like that; I can't call a breeder or anything on the phone unless I'm positive I'll make a purchase. I guess I just feel like I would be wasting their time otherwise. I'll have to try and come by some time soon, though.

Yeah, I think that's one of the worst things about the show - the bad timing it has with a lot of people having school start that week. That's cool that you might be able to make it next year though! If you ever have the chance to go to the Tinley Park (Chicago) show, I would highly recommend it. It's a pretty far trip for you but well worth it. You get a different kind of feeling at Tinley Park than you do at Daytona. The sheer size of Daytona is overwhelming and it seems like you aren't able to see everything you wanted to see in the two days. Tinley Park gives off a great, professional atmostphere and you see a lot of the crowd there is made up of more serious enthusiasts. Both are fantastic shows though.

Definitely swing by sometime if you have the chance. We certainly do not mind showing people around - especially new people and friends we meet on the forums! Believe me, it's no trouble at all. We frequently have "regulars" that are now good friends of ours who hang out all day and leave with either nothing or maybe $1 worth of crickets or something LOL. We enjoy the company and it's always fun to talk about something everyone's so passionately into! It's cool when there are just a bunch of guys hanging out and sometimes when we have new people stop by that we're showing around, we'll have a little mini-group of friends that walk along with the "tour" LOL.

I also want to mention that this invitation is definitely extended to any other BP.net members out there who might find themselves in the area one day. Please stop by and say Hi if you guys have the chance!

    Thanks,
    Celia
