    Oscar the pup
Hello folks, look at the wee fellow me and the wife picked up this week. His names Oscar and he's a full bred border collie, who cost us twenty five pounds (about forty U.S. dollars). We got him from a farmer ouside of the town we live in and we were able to see both parents, who are working dogs and in beautiful condition. Hope you enjoy the pics,

Yeah i can't wait until he's of training age. We're gonna get trained out on one of the farms around our area and hopefully get him to sheep trial level but it will be hard work and a lot of dedication. Saying that i'm looking forward to it even though at the minute he's a wee torture, all he wants to do is eat my slippers or sleep in them but thats the case with nearly all pups and he's far too cute for his own good

He is totally adorable, and far to cute for words!!!!! Good luck with training him. I had a border/chow mix that had very strong herding instinct that we weren't able to ever do anything with, so she contented herself with herding our coffee table. She would even try to herd our cats.

    OhhhhhOHohohoh! That is heartbreakingly cute!!!

We had a border collie when I was a kid....got her as a pup, too. And we also had a pretty old wee little toy poodle. Hehehe...when Taffy (the collie) got older, she used to herd the poodle all over the house and yard. She'd herd us kids around, too. Way too funny!

Border collies are one of my favorite dogs in the whole world, but I probably won't ever own one because they are so high energy and need to work to be happy. Sounds like you've got a great situation to have one, though! I'm super-envious!

We're very lucky indeed to be able to raise Oscar where we live. I'm sure some of you will have heard of the Glens of Antrim. Well the town we live in is at the start of the Antrim coast road, which leads you to the nine glens and it is only a fifteen minute drive to the first one. I have included a wee link to let you see where we will be walking Oscar when he's up and about

We were originally going to call him Henry but when we went to pick him up Oscar seemed like a more fitting name. Hopefully he will grow up with the charm, eloquence and wit of the great Irish man Oscar Wilde :D

Oh what a lovely area for both humans and dogs! What fun you'll have field training him. They are truly lovely dogs though too smart by half from what I've heard of the breed. I know people that put up a pen in their back garden, put in a few wing clipped ducks and used to let them out daily for their collie to push about. Didn't much bother the ducks and apparently ducks/geese are harder to herd than sheep so it's a bit of a daily challenge to the dog. The unexpected side benefit to it all was a regular supply of duck eggs which are wonderful to bake with! LOL

What a cutie; they are such energetic, cool dogs. My man's sister has one, and she would literally play fetch till she died from it if you let her!
