It's a sort of unspoken rule: one cage, one reptile. Beardies can be kept with other beardies, and leos with other leos, but not mixed together.

It's kinda like housing snakes together... there are just too many risks involved. What if one attacks the other, or they both get sick? Which one got sick first? Or if only one gets sick---runny stool or something---how are you going to be able to tell.

Plus, the requirements for a leo and a beardie are completely different. A leo can typically go without a UVB lamp while a beardie REQUIRES one. Their basking temps are different, as are their ambient temps. They don't come from the same parts of the world and therefore require different set-ups.

Why do you need to house anything with your beardie? They do great by themselves. But if you must, then maybe consider a second beardie....but ONLY if you can provide big enough housing for them. They would each need enough space to carve out their own "territory" and not have to compete for it...otherwise, they may fight.

Beardies and leos have different husbandry needs, for one thing. And for another, I know my beardie will chase and try to eat virtually anything that moves (and some stuff that doesn't...like his salad..LOL). I wouldn't dream of putting another animal in there with him, especially a smaller one.

Actually, you CAN do it if you want, just be prepared for the beardie eating the leo. Kind of an expensive meal if you ask me.

    Nothing

Leopard Geckos need different requirements and you are risking the same as you are with snakes.

I agree with everyting said already. Beardies are from Australia and Leos are from the Middle east ie.....Pakistan, Iran, India, Afghanistan etc.....

Its just common sense that you dont do something like that.

You asked a question, and lots of people gave you an answer. Instead of being rude you should be grateful. If you think that "home animals live in harmony" then ignore everything everyone has said and house the leo and the beardie together.

Just be prepared to lose a pet.

Kilo,i think this post is rather very rude. The members here have always done our best to answer any and all of your questions when you have them.So far in the last week or so you have been rude twice now,the first was when you made the comment about the time length before someone answered your question. This comment makes number two :( .Have you ever heard of a old saying "you get more flies with honey then vinegar"? I was told this a long time back and it means if you are polite people will inturn be polite to you.If you come on like a smart mouth with a attitude you will be ignored.I myself was very happy that i could answer any of the questions you had that i responded to.I am also sure the other members here did not hesitate to help you out with there replies. So to come here and see a comment like this one i am concerned about your reptiles you allready have.By this i wonder if you are really taking any suggestions we have given you about your reptiles or just ignoring them.I hope infact you are taking the suggestions and using them and learning at the same time. Now its up to you if you either listen to suggestions given to yourself or just doing whatever you want.I hope its the first choice you choose;) .Thank you

Re: Lep Gecko And Beardie housed Together
Ouch... ok I must take a moment to sincerely apologize for my child like behavior. I have no intention on buying a gecko and housing it with my beardie. I only wanted to ask so that I would recieve that info in which I did and know from here on out that pretty much NO reptile is to be housed together. I know it's no excuse but right before I posted that me and my fiance got into a huge argument and me having a BIG PET PEEVE when it comes to common sense and him mentioning that my question was easily(sp) anwsered with common sense just sent me over the edge. I do think he was being rude with the common sense remark.. I thought people cam here to learn and no question was a stupid question. I'm new to reptiles how am I supposed to know which reptiles could be housed together and which can't? Im learning, hence the whole reason for posting this thread. As far as the reptiles I already have I take care of them exactly as I was advised to by you and many other... and again I must say I appreciate all the help I have recieved so far.

Oh and just for the record I meant to type "Some animals live in harmony no matter where they are from" not "Home". Which was completely an uneducated guess.

Again I and very sorry for coming off as rude...
important phone call I will finish this post in a minute

I was not trying to be rude, its just common sense that 2 animals from different parts of the world shouldnt be housed together. Its just that simple. Sorry if it sounded rude, I wasnt trying to be.
