    Tub critique
I finally made the switch over to a tub two days ago! No more coming home and the humidity's at 41%! Lol

Anyways, I've set my BP up in a 16 qt. Sterilite, secured with eight 2-inch binder clips, two on each short and long side. I fear I may have drilled too many holes, though, since my Acu-Rite was sort of messed up and I thought I had to drill more to get the humidity down. I know it sounds crazy, but there's more than like 50 holes, but each one's only maybe 3-5 mm in diameter, and my Acu-Rite read 70% after about an hour or two!! I think this might've been inaccurate for two reasons: I may have spilled a little water in that spot (I know I spilled some water), or because the thing's just screwed up because I had accidentally spilled some water on the screen (What's with me and spilling water??) and decreased my ability to actually read the thing. I bought a new one today, though. Current reading: Cool- 82.2, Warm- 93.7, Humidity- 54%. The humidity has been slowly climbing from 50 to 54 since I put it in about 15 mins. / Half hour ago.

Tell me what you think. Is the lid secure?

Would it work with 3/4 inch binder clips??

    I think it's awesome.

I think it would. I just got the two-inch because it was the only kind in stock.

    Thanks.

When it came to making my first (and so far only) tub...I realized that it was best to let it sit for a couple days and wait for the acurite to "acclimate" to the new levels. The humidity spiked for awhile...I drilled more holes....and the humidity was still pretty high. But like you...I was dealing with a bit of spilt water and such. After a couple days, it leveled out to a perfect humidity of around 55%. I'm glad I didn't drill yet more holes.

If you have too many holes, you can cover some with tape...then remove it later if you find you need more ventilation. :)

I personally wouldn't feel safe with those clips being the only thing keeping my snake from leaving. When they want to be they can be quite the escape artists. Not to mention the more you remove and put those thing back on the weaker they become...i work at an office and I use those bad boys all day..call me a clip guru...just my opion though looks sweet otherwise.

I think it looks great! The binder clips are actually quite secure, but I think it would be tighter with the small binder clips (that's what I use on my 15 quart tubs).

Spanaird - they're actually quite secure - I move them to larger before they become strong enough to push the lid off once secured.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind.

When the snake gets bigger you might want to pick up some of these:

Jglass recommended them to me and they're awesome. It was about a dollar for four and they're really strong. They should be in the "Tool" aisle of a Home Depot.

If it doesn't go any higher, it sounds good. Once you the heat turns on in your house it will drop the humidity a bit more. Just keep a close eye on it. ;)
