    Back Bone Showing
On all 3 of my new amarali boas, the back bone is pronounced. Im wondering if this is a trait of amaralis. The first 2 came from Barry Miller and the third came from lower ground reptiles, but was originally from Constrictors NW.

What do you mean my pronounced? I can see my big females spine still and shes beefy!! There back bone is visable if you look close enough IMO and they can still be plenty healthy. Anychance you can get a pic? I'll see if I have any pics on hand that show the spine. Shouldn't be noticable without looking

It looks like the spine is on top of the rest of the body. The new girl looks very well fed. They're all taking about 40g weaned rats every 2 weeks. They're all one year old and about 2' long. Barry Miller told me to only fed again after they have defacated. This is the sellers pic of the new girl. If you look closely you can tell.

Yep, looks healthy to me. Different groups of snake species have different back shapes...boas have a "square" shape. =)

She's no where as nice as the 2 amarali I got from Barry Miller. I get their pics up in a couple days.

she looks great. when the backbone sticks out more than the muscles on its side then you need to be worried.

I would tend to disagree, the backbone is very pronounced in the area in red. You can see the tent like shape of the body in the saddle circled. I have never heard of having to wait until a snake defecates to feed it, every 2 weeks for a 1 year old snake is not often enough. It should be on a every 7 day schedule. :O

I've been reassured by Barry Miller and Gus Renfro that she is ok and thats it normal in a growing amarali. Barry said that they take a little longer to muscle out. This girl is gonna be a brat though. I thought my ball was bad last night trying to weigh her, this girl was 10x worse.
