Why would you suggest force feeding?

Relax, you have only had him for a week. He should be left alone for at least a week to acclimate to his new environment before trying to feed.

I wouldn't consider it a problem considering its been less than a week. Let it acclimate, get your temps right, put it in a quiet area. Does it have enough hides?

yes he does. he has a hide rock and he has sand which he can bury himself in. so if he doesnt eat by next week then should i be worried?

Worrying isn't going to make him eat. Let him get acclimated for a week. Then try to feed him in a darkened room inside his enclosure.

Also, be aware that some kingsnakes can be lizard only feeders when they are young. I am not experienced with Florida Kings but I have seen this with other kings. From the looks of the picture that Florida king looks pretty young so this may be the case. Your best bet would be to contact the breeder that you bought him from and ask specific questions about how he feeds his Florida kings. If he had them eating pinkies, you should have no problem once it settles in; however, if he was feeding ground skinks or anoles....you might have to go collecting.

    Hope that helps a bit.

Um, is sand his entire substrate? I'd be concerned about the sand abrading his skin and worried about impactions.
