    Moggie the blackthroat's New tank(DU No-no)
Okay, finally, I got all this done today, so critique away. Where is Mr~Python? Anything need changing in this? I know I'll have to size up in a few months most likely. But, she now had dirt, two hides spots(one multilevel).
I made the lid today, and I'm thinking about putting in a 2nd spotlight. Waiting to see how the temps flutuate over a day or two.
    Pictures!!!

She has already made herself a burrow, and has chased crickets around the tank. The only thing I haven't seen her do yet, is bask under her spot. Would it do any good to put a UTH on it to heat the dirt? Or maybe another spot? Hmmm?
    She seems MUCH happier.

lol, you can call me Marshall;) :P

    heres my constructive criticism:
she needs more dirt. try to get the dirt deep enough as half the monitors body length if possible. also, press the dirt down with your hands to compact it. it holds burrows better when compacted.

i would try to move the pile of rocks directly under the spot light to make the basking spot bigger. see how its kind of half on the rocks and half on the ground? it kinda breaks it in half and you want a bigger basking spot then that.

other then that, everything looks good. she might need darker, more secure hides though.

Thanks! I do have 2 more bags of dirt, so I can add more, she already dug out under one rock to "fix" it like she wanted it. I figured I'd end up rearranging it, so I can do that pretty quick.

yeah, i would add the dirt, compress it, move the basking rocks and you're set. plus, with more dirt = higher basking spot and you can buy a dimmer to control the heat and bring down the amount of humidity being lost from the heat of the bulb.

The "real" monitor forums can be scary places :O

    :partyon: Marshall!!

They like to rearrange their vivs - try putting some plastic plants in too, mine likes to have some hanging over his hide spots then he takes a fit and digs around and scatters them all together in a corner. Also a monitor-sized drinking bowl is much appreciated to double up as a bath-tub - they like to completely submerge themselves and dunk their heads under.

    He's looking good :)_
