    New Cage (Woo!) DL Warning
This is my (mostly) done new cage that I've been working on for a while now. All I have left to do if attach the curtain rods I got (to put drapes around the cage when it's reeeeeeeeeally cold outside) and get some fake plants (which I'm doing tomorrow). The cage is 6 ft. long, 3.5 tall, and 20 in. deep with six, soon to be seven, hides. So without further adieu:

    The outside of the cage:

The netting is a bit stronger than screendoor netting and the zippers have automatic locks on htem, so when they're pointed down they can't be moved, incase he figures out how zippers work...

The back is solid birch and it has a clear plastic coating on it, so it just whipes down real easy, same with the platforms.

    The platforms:

    Fountain (and the amazing tiki-hut-type-thing!!):

    Waterdish:

Paris would have finished his bath early if he knew he was getting his picture taken...but he'll pose anyway.

I have three 150 watt bulbs, two 50-60 gallon under cage heaters and a 10 gallon one. I also have substrate that holds humidity well.

I'm getting two more therms tomorrow, so I'll have eight places checked for heat and four for hum.

He’s got desert snow, some calci-sand, repti-bark and so of that forest floor stuff that comes in the condensed brick.

The cage is very nice, but calci sand is not good for any reptile.

Yeah, Calci-Snad is not what it says. It is not healthy for any reptile, and Ball-pythons don't do good in sand, because of humidity problems, and other reasons.

What kind of thermometers are you getting? The stick on ones are not good or the dial ones either. Get one digital thermometer/hygrometer combo.

I like the little hut hide box!

y bad, it's not calci-sand, I checked. That's what I was going to buy but didn't. Good thing apparently. It's this stuff:

Well, any sand is bad for your Ball Python. Just get rid of it alltogether and get a substrate that is more suitable for a Ball-Python, like aspen. What is the humidity in there?

Either or, sand is still bad.

It looks like you spent a lot of time on your cage! Very well done.

I'll replace it tomorrow then. I've never heard of sand being bad for bp, but I can see how it makes sence. Thanks!

No problem! Also, make sure all of the hides in your cage are comfy, not too roomy, but not TOO tight.

I already have two digitals in thereI think there is hides in front of both of them. They're Acurites.

My favorite hide is the pirate ship thing. It's awesome.

Yikes, why do you need 2 more? That would be measuring 8 temps :O

Sounds like more than you need to me. Just keep one on the bottom of the left side, and one on the right side. LOL. That's all you need.

It seems a bit excessive, but it's tall enough that the temps are diffrent pretty much everywhere. And I want four hum. readings, mostly
