Revelation

Hello, my name is Rachel ("Hello Rachel"), and I am a... a... a Nerd. *sigh*

Today, I realized I was a herp nerd. You know, like the aquarium nerds. Or the Pitbull nerds. Or the weird pushed-in-face-cat nerds. Only I'm a BP nerd. And the fact that I refer to them as BPs has just proven my nerdness.

For a while, I was in denial about my nerdness. I just thought I was a pet owner. When Julio (my first BP) and I would go for a ride to the store, I thought it was something that any normal pet owner would do. I didn't think there was anything wrong with keeping a snake in my bra in public... and then talking to it, despite the fact that snakes don't have ears. I didn't think that wanting to get Julio a girlfriend so he wouldn't be lonely when I was at work or sleeping was a big deal. Then when I got baby Carlotta a few weeks ago, I didn't think twice when I told my boyfriend, "I bet her whole body could fit in my mouth!" and then proceeded to try (she didn't like it, I didn't really intend to finish the act, and I put her back in the cage; no harm done).

But today, my mother and I were chatting over the MSN, discussing how I would go about constructing a large snake home with wood and nylon... and that's when it hit me. I have a nerd problem. I'm addicted to snakes. So I sought out a support group.

So I hope you guys can help me and support me through my nerd crisis. And I hope that I'm welcome here at Ball-Pythons.net.

Hello Rachel! *welcome supportive group murmuring* As far as helping you with your snake nerdiness well girl you've come to the wrong place. We are all...sorry to say...

ENABLERS!

Starts with one or two snakes, then people show you their snakes and the lil baby snakes just hatching out...then before you know it you've got a lot of snakes...then the Evil Lizard Ladies hit you with the "omg how cute can a crested gecko be!" pics...then you get a crestie...then another one....then somebody has to show off their new leopard gecko and you start checking them out....

you think what would the harm be to read a caresheet or two....then Daniel hooks you on obsessively checking out certain breeder's websites throughout the hatching season....

enablers...I tell you...they are all ENABLERS!!!

Hi, Rachel. Some would say that at only two BP's (and yes that number will grow) that you don't have a problem. I know better. I only have one BP, ( My sweet, wonderful little Dax!!!! He is so cute!!! He is a very gentle yet curious boy, who is the absolute joy of his Mommy's life.......) I could go on for years, but that proves my point. You don't have to have more than one to be considered an addict and beyond help.

At least you have found this site, where you can express your addiction and people will understand you, and accept without question, your addiction.
