Does he look a tad thin to you?
Just got some semi-decent shots of Sprocket (thanks to Jeanne for some ideas on how to get a baby crestie to stay still for 2 seconds! LOL). I think he looks a tad thin but since he's my first I'm not sure if he is or just how his body was angled in these pics. He's a bit dark here probably not happy with me bugging him for pics. His normal color is a light brown (much like dried play sand really).

He gets his CGD daily plus worms 3x a week and vitamin powder. He was refusing the worms but took them Saturday night for the first time so I'm hoping they will help him bulk up a bit (maybe I'm just a worry wort new crestie mom but he looks a bit scrawny to me).

Baby cresties are pretty thin. At least mine are. They only eat CGD, and are still a bit afraid of their :crix:. UGH! Dumb little critters.

He looks ok from what I can tell, how about a shot from above?

I tried for one of those....would you like the "this is where in heck Sprocket used to be" or the "OMG RUN THERE'S A CRAZY LADY HANGING OVER ME WITH A CAMERA!" one??? lol

I'll try to get an overhead shot when Mike is home to play wrangle the gecko for me (hmmmm a crestie cowboy....how cool is that!) :P

Aww you weenie. I took all my baby gecko pics all by myself. :neener: They are hoppy little boogers. I will be eagerly awaiting them.

(Hey does Mike have to wear chaps then? If so grab a pic of him too. ;) )

They are pretty thin when they're young. He looks great! I took all my pics by myself too LOL!!! (But mine just sit still all the time, so it's a bit unfair!!!)

sprocket looks fine. give him about 2 more months and he'll start to fill out more. :) cresteds grow so quickly that they really don't start putting on much meat until they are a couple months old. have you offered him any crickets? a diet of cgd and crickets is an excellent way to get babies growing!

i also personally don't feed mealworms and don't recommend them unless you cut the heads off first. their shells are so chitinous that cresteds really can't digest them so they have little to no nutritional value but just act as filler. if you cut the heads off first though it allows at least some of the nutritious insides to get out to be digested.

I've been thinking about ditching the mealies (though he does love em) and trying some sort of other worm. I'll feed crix if I must for his own good but truly I hate the darn things. Robin was speaking with a supplier at Daytona about some new worm coming into PetCo shortly that's supposed to be quite good so hopefully she'll fill us in on that soon.

Well I'm glad he looks basically normal for a little crestie. He seems well in himself, eating, pooping, bee bopping around and so forth. He left me the cutest tracks this morning from his CGD bowl all around on his paper towel substrate. One is almost a perfect little crestie footprint (omg I'm such a sap! I'm goofy over a little bitty sticky footprint...eeep!)

it may be phoenix worms that they are going to start carrying. if so they are an excellent food source and can definitely take the place of crickets. two thumbs up for the phoenix worm! :)

Yep I hope they are or I may have to find a supplier for them. After you mentioned them I went googling and look what I found.

I'm baaaackk!! And have two new cresties - one is mine, one is Karls - pictures later.

The new worms that will be introduced by Timberline are going to be called Calciworms and are supposed to be loaded with calcium - they say they are so loaded with it, you don't have to supplement them with vitamins.

We did pick up two containers of Phoenix worms while there and got two free "Cricket Lunchboxes" from Timberline with 24 crickets each in them.

The boys are settling in right now (both are tail-less boys). The breeder said they should get along fine since we don't have any girls for them to fight over. They seemed to get along fine in the small rubbermaid we had in Daytona for them.

Awesome pictures of Sprocket! He's adorable!

Wonder what type of worms they are though..silk...mealies...phoenix. Oh well I'll have to wait and contact my local PetCo about them coming in (the two reptile specialists there are getting used to oddball me lol). Thanks for the heads up on a new product Robin and can't wait to see pics of the cresties.

Be careful, as too much calicium is detrimental to cresties. (at least that's what my feeble brain is telling me).
