Is this the money shot.
Hi all, I placed my known male in with my (according to previous owner) pretty sure female. I took some pics of the time they spent together and I think they did the deed! Here are some pics.
This may be a dumb question but, would two male snakes do this?

They stayed this way for quite some time, Is this the money shot?http://www.geocities.com/mattnardo/Maybe2.JPG

Re: Is this the money shot.
Although I'm not experianced in the breeding world yet, based on some pictures I've seen from breeders, it looks like it could be.
but I do believe breeding season is during the cooler months. so the male is ready to do the deed, but I don't think she is :(

Re: Is this the money shot.
They could be locked up.The only way to be 100% sure is if you see the Hemi penis entering her.The only way is to queitly(spelling) sit and observe them. Why are you attempting breeding so early in the season, most do not even put them together until December(myself included).

That female doesn't look big enough to be breeding, how big is she?

There is a couple breeders that I know of that have been experimenting with different breeding seasons and having some success. I think the ball python breedings are going in new directions from previously used methods.

From what I've read, there is no set breeding season. In a controlled environment, breeding season can be when ever you want :D

Re: Is this the money shot.
I agree with Bill, How big is that female?? I hope that male is atleast 2500g.

Re: Is this the money shot.
I thought the males need to be around 500gm and the female should be in between 1200-1500 grams...

He is referring to the fact the male is almost double the size of the female. For her to be anywhere near big enough to breed he would have to be over 2500 grams.

Re: Is this the money shot.
I didn't intend on a mating, these 2 just love "hanging out together. When we have them out together they tend to stick together, so when we put the larger (suspected girl) back into her tank the smaller (sold to me as a male) tried getting in as well so I just let him get in. I don't keep them together this was just a "sure why not", after about an hour in there this is what I saw, I have seen pics of balls mating and thats what I thought they were doing.
Both snakes are big, the larger of the two is a tad over 5 feet and the smaller is right near 4. I know the pictures don't show it, but they are big. As far as weights I'm not positive. I see that someone mentioned the male being bigger than the female, what tells you whos who? does the male take the "top" all the time?

Males will slide their tail up under the females, so the females tail is on top and the males is on the bottom. It is easy to figure it out from there.

First off the male locks up under her tail area.Second just because they are long enough does not mean that she weighs enough.Being gravid takes alot out of the female as far as making the embreyos(spelling) egg shells and just the time not eating. No one is being rude here just trying to help you out ;)

I didn't think anyone came off rude, I hope my last post didn't seem snappy or anything.
So if the male slides their tales under, than this is male on male? Would a male let another male do this to him?

Until you have them probed it could be a possiblity:O .Some members here have snakes that will breed a water bowl :P .So its possible you could have two males and one is trying to dominate the other.
