LRs hatching!!!!!!!!!

One slit the egg and poked his lil nose out. Hatched out this afternoon. When I came home from class in center Philly, another had slit the egg. And GUESS WHAT???!!!!! NOOO bugeyes!!!!! Whoo hoo!!! I'm stoked.

God i love Lucy rats and would have gotten one even over Ben (who's becomming mr popular between tony and i) but i DONT KNOW THEIR TEMPERMENTS!!!! are they as docile as corns? I thought they were a bit more aggressive. either way- that is a 'sexy' baby. Good Luck!!!

OK guys...heres an update. (with pics as requested!!) Two are out......and still no bugeyes!! https://ball-pythons.net/forums/imag...es/biggrin.gif The other two still haven't even slit their eggsshells. If they don't pip by tomorrow, I may have intervene to make a tiny incision. These two made at least four slits in their eggs. The first one has its mother's gorgeous completely flawless scales, with dad's calm temperament. I might just have to keep this one. I'm so excited!!! It's a girl!! haven't checked the other one yet. Givin' it a day or two. Both were active right outta the egg. I took severeal pics, but had to turn the flash off because it was not showing their true color, which is really PINK. Flash on showed a white baby....they get whiter as they get older. The natural color pics aren't as clear, but at least they show the babies' true color.

One was infertile, and one went bad further into the incubation, so I have two babies and two good eggs left that should be hatching, leaving a probable total of four babies.

What type of snake is a LR?

The species is a Texas ratsnake; these happen to have no pigment, so they are referred to as leucistic (loo-sis-stic), aka "lucy's" or lucy rats (LR). =)

Thanks for the pronunciation Cass!!!! The third one just slit its shell, and rather agressively too! I even see its tiny egg tooth still attached!!!! Tryin to get pic of egg tooth now......no small feat!!!

Yea where are the pics:irkd: lol.Do not worry about getting the morphs wrong:) .Try to determine the ghosts,silver queens out of the same clutch when you are color blind to a sort lol.The first clutches that i hatched out earlier this year i had the ghosts marked silver queens and vice versa:P .I had to have a freind show me who was who and no mistakes now lol.

I will post more pics as soon as I can. I did get some really good closeup shots, and the babies all look great, except one.......Out of four babies, ONE unfortunately was bug-eyed. Those odds aren't bad at all, though. I only have had time to sex two of em, so so far I have two lil girls. Still debating whether i want to keep one or not......

Educate me please. I assume this bug eye thing just happens occasionally does it (only with the leucy's or others???) Will the baby not survive or be compromised somehow or is it more about the look of the snake? Where's pictures woman! How can I convince my husband that we MUST have one if I can't plaster one of your cute baby LR's all over my dang desktop LOL
