    Piebald
Is it possible for a piebald to have a white head? I have never seen one, does one exist?

So far as I know, there have never been any pieds produced with a white head. There have, however, been a very small handful of animals that look like pieds that have white heads. The genetics on that phenomenon are not yet understood, to the best of my knowledge.

From what I've read (on RDR, Nerd, etc.) is that homogenous pieds always have a "normal" head, usually with a bit of gray on the neck, and then mixed amounts of white and "piebald" orangey-black markings. Lots of white is referred to as "high-white pied"; very little white is "low-white pied".

Piebalds, however, are starting to be mixed with other morphs and with those, you may be able to eventually see one that has a white head - but to my knowledge (i.e., surfing the web for any and all pictures of pieds I can get my grubby hands on), there is no current pied morph combo that has a white head.

Time to combine a super mojave x piebald, ivory or yellow-belly x piebald, lesser platty x piebald, etc.? =)

    What's a supermojave look like?

I wonder why Piebald (by itself) doesnt ever hit the head....it's weird how it never does....it only randomly hits from the neck down....

Super mojave is another all white snake with blue eyes (blue eyed leucisitic), so to try to get a pied with a white head, maybe cross it with a super mojave or regular mojave...*shrug*

I do my best "what if you combined..." thoughts right before I go to sleep, so I never remember them...

    *edit*
I do not profess to be the best knowledge on morphs so if I'm incorrect, PLEASE someone correct me!

Question, just curious.. I KNOW NOTHING OF SNAKE MORPHS except for the obvious basics.... Is there concern for long term healt problems with snakes that are trip/quad morphs. After 5 generations of deluting color has anyone run into problems? This is just a question, not to offend or anger anyone. I'm a fan of the morphs... Hope to own one one day.... I just know w/ dogs, cats, horses, even fish, there have been diffrent results. just curious.....

I could be wrong but, I would think that most health problems would result from cross-breeding closely related snakes over time. Such as siblings/parents. That is why it's best to introduce new breeding stock into the equation (same morphs from different breeders or a new snake entirely) That's just my thoughts on this. I have never bred before (soon I hope) but, I did study genetics in college a bit. Maybe one of the breeders has more input on this. Remember I could be totally wrong so, don't take my word for it.

There are only a few trip/quad morphs in existance......quads you could count actual animals on your fingers ;) No known health problems from mixing so far....in some cases, mixing morphs seems to have helped the health of the animal (i.e. pearl lesser(super woma lesser)). Problems have resulted from line breeding weak animals though.....so it is best to outsource your animals genetics every now and then to 'keep the blood fresh' ;)

Responsible breeding eliminates any concern for inbreeding.

Check out Ralph's birthing records page...he lists the mom, dad, the clutch, etc etc....Not too often do you see him mixing homozygous x homozygous just to crank out more homozygous morphs....he *could*, but doesn't appear to do so on a grand scale. Just an observation....
