Personally as a first gecko i would say hmmm , as 9 times out of 10 they are quite aggressive some tokays have been known to chase there owners when putting the hands in the enclosure and bark agressively , also as far as i know an adult male can have upto 5lbs of jaw pressure :O thats the only reason i say this and imo are really best left as display animals unless you get a tame one :). Care wise they are great beginner gecko as there pretty straight forward to care for .
Saying that flea (my tokay) was my first ever gecko and ive had no problems whats so ever.
When it comes down to it be warned tokays can and will give a painful bite if your not careful , but of course it isnt nowhere near life threatening and the care is pretty easy . its just the agressive side to them that puts me off saying there a good beginner species of gecko otherwise there great :D im glad i got flea i wouldnt be without her for the world even if she did ever bite me which she hasnt done yet :D
    heres a caresheet for a tokay http://www.wnyherp.org/care-sheets/l...okay-gecko.php
    hope this helps :)

Im not sure really , she is quite chunky for a female but when she out and about cruising her viv she dosnt look as "thick" ...apart from her locusts and mealies she has a pinkie once a month and thats her main diet
