I need some help
This is my first time posting here. I have been reading in the forums all day so I hope you all can help. I have 2 bP's again I had one then none then one now 2 lol. Miss. B my first one she escaped a lil over a year ago, after searching my house and with no luck i figured she was gone for good, so I bought a new BP named Bratty I have had here for a year and she is just perfect but lives up to her name. Anyway I live in a mobile home and was getting my bathroom floor redone and when they took the tub out and the floorboard guess who appeared Miss. B just coiled up on the rafter. Though the guy who was doing the floor was bitten by a rattlesnake once thought it was a rattler till he calmed down enough to realize it wasn't but hit it to the ground with a broom and then my llandlord kicked it to the driveway and was gonna chop her up with the lawn mower. Bad evil men they are as I cursed both of the out. Anyway I picked Miss. B up with the shovel thinking if she is hurt or stressed or anything she might strike and bite I put her in a carryier for the time being but she hasn't uncoiled yet and has been a few hours the temps r ok and i put some water i n there for her. Could she be hurt or do u think she is just stressed and needs some time to readjust? Please if anyone has any advice if nothing happens in a day or so i will have to travel a long distance to find a good reptile vet because there are none in the area.

Re: I need some help
Hi! First off...welcome to the forums! :handshake:
Second off, I moved your post into the proper forum...as I think it's about ball pythons, rather than colubrids.
Third off, I had a very hard time following all that you were trying to say, but in the end, I get that you found a lost snake that had been hidden under the bathtub? And the guys who found it were...ummm...less than gentle with it.
I would highly recommend a trip to the vet for the little one...although a day or two to drink her fill and warm up may not hurt her. But there's just no way to tell if your snake was injured by the "bad men" or if her prolonged absence has caused serious problems.

Re: I need some help
ty for moving my post as i am new and still trying to figure this site out. Well I am going to have to bring her to the vet it is just a travel of 3 plus hours depending on traffic but is worth it. I am just surprised as anyone else that she was still alive after a year living under my bathtub. I just checked on her again and she is still coiled up and half hiding fer head which I know they do when they feel threatened I just hope she will be ok. Thank you again for the warm welcome and hope to be an active part of this forum.

Re: I need some help
ok I know I am a posting fool lol. Well my husband just got home and took Miss. B out and uncoiled her she seems a lil thinner than when I last seen her and she is scared but who wouldn't be after living on her own for over a year?! I got her in the carrier and a blanket over it to keep it dark and hopefully I can feed her in a day or 2 and all will be well. Until then I am just going to have to keep a close watch on her and hope she goes back to being a healthy happy BP. I am glad to have her home.

Your posts are very difficult to read! Please use punctuation at the end of your sentences, as your thought process is extremely hard to follow!!

Re: I need some help
Wow, now that's a "rescue". I didn't think they can live that long without food. Do you guys have rodents he could have gotten a hold of? How does one get under a tub in the first place? Is there a hole?

Re: I need some help
Sorry that my posts are hard to follow. I just had surgery a week ago and am on some heavy meds. Anyway I live in a mobile home and it is off the ground. I have a hole in my bathroom floor and i suspect she got out there and got between the floor board and the rafter. I am sure between the lizards and any mice or anything else that may of come by she ate. Miss. B is a little thin and I am gonna feed her tomorrow since she is now feeling right back at home. I am just so happy we found her and she is still alive we gave her her hide back and she went right in and has been so happy to be held and loved. So I will see how she progresses in the next few days, since she seems to remember who lovws her and where her home is. since she was out in the rain today I think she needed a chance to warm up and get some rest and hopefully tomorrow she will be ready to eat. Which brings me to a question, she is adult mice size, when she escaped she was eatiung 2 a week should i start her back on 2 tomorrow or should i just give her one? Please let me know what u think about that and ty for all your help!

Re: I need some help
I think I would try one smallish-sized prey item. She may or may not choose to eat it, given all the stress she went through and injuries she may have suffered being kicked around. :( If she eats...then wait a full week and offer another small prey. Make sure she can and will eat consistently before putting her back on her regular diet of last year. I know it seems horrendously long to be without food (hard to say if she actually ate anything during that time or not) but they can and do survive such hardships when they must. She will be just fine easing back into a regular eating regimine.
All that being said, I still think a trip to the vet would be best for her, given what she's been through...and he'll be able to tell you if she's suffered any broken ribs or anything that might make it difficult for her to eat.

Re: I need some help
They can go quite awhile if need be. A girl on another forum found her missing cornsnake after 11 months...her dad came across it underneath the lawnmower. :O

Re: I need some help
Ty very much for the help I will kepp you all posted on how she does tomorrow. She is a trooper I am still amazed that we found her after about a year and a half almost. Once i can get a cord from my mom I will take some pictures of Miss. B and Bratty and post them for u guys. I am really grateful for the help and will give the herp. vet a call to see when I can get her up there since it is a 3 hour trip.

Re: I need some help
Welcome to bp.net :handshake:
My advice would be to provide her with a warm environment with plenty of places to hide and water. Leave her alone for a week or so and then offer her a single food item. She will most likely need some time to readjust and some time alone will be beneficial. Once you have her back on a normal feeding schedule slowly start interacting again. Just keeping in mind that she has been without human interaction for a long time and will most likely need some time to readjust. There are some great care sheets and advice givers here, the best ball python resource online if you ask me. The best of luck to you and please keep us posted.

Re: I need some help
You said you had it in a "carrier?"
You know you should probably set it up in a proper enclosure with the right temperature, humidity, fresh water, and places to hide, right?
Just the way you described it, I had a mental image of a snake in one of those small dog/cat carriers until you decided to take it to the vet.

Re: I need some help
I am so glad you found her...alive. There's no better feeling than finding a lost and much loved snake. :D I hope she eats well for you. The vet will probably give her s shot of vitamins and maybe a shot of electrolytes becuse she's probably going to be dehydrated. Aside from any broken bones she may have gotten from those two :censored:S, I'm sure she'll be ok.

Re: I need some help
Yes when I first found her yesterday i put her in a cat carrier until i could get to Wal Mart and get another tank. She had a hide that looks like a old tree stump that she has been resting in for most of the night, since I put it in her tank (that has been her favorite hide since I got her the first time). She has her water bowl and I got the heat lamp there in case the temp drops. Now everything is regulated and temps and humity r back to normal. I am surprised that last night when i woke up she was moving around her cage some and seemed to "recognize" where she was, and she has been very loving and friendly. I have not over handled her just handled her enough to get her situated back into her tank and such. As soon as the guy who is fixing my bathroom floor leaves i am gonna go get some mice cuz it is feeding day for Bratty, and I think Miss. B is ready to eat she was a little dehydrated and a lilttle on the thin side. I also called the herp. vet to see when i can get her in and I am bringing her next week, but he also said if she seems to be moving around ok and as long as she starts eating and is consistant with it she should be ok, but he will check out her blood when we bring her up. So I am hoping all goes well and will let you all know later today if she eats or not. Thank you all for being so kind and helpful, I am glad I came across this site when I was looking for answers.

Re: I need some help
Ok all an update on Miss. B I fed her one mouse the other day it took her a few minutes to decide to eat it but she did and she has been moving around some she likes to stay in or around her hide because it is warm safe and secure for her. Though when we take her out and handle her she loves to get nice and close and go into ur shirt or around your neck and just "snuggle". She is doing fine and slowly but surly becoming her old self and happy to be home, each day she is looking better and happiuer thank you all for ur help and enjoy being on this site and talking to other ppl that have a love for BP's a nd other reptiles.
