* Inside of my Tank *
i have 1 nice $15 hide rock on each side of my tank - newspaper substrate (so easy) - water bowl - big fake plant
is that enough??
and in the center is the plant and the water bowl but the water bowl is against the front of the tank and the plant is at the back of the tank hanging thru the middle and laying over the backs of the hide rocks....should i switch the water bowl and the plant...idk...to get to the other hide rock on the other side, the snake has to go around the waterbowl...understand what im saying?

Pics? My snake has to go around the water bowl and a fake tree... or climb over. To me it's a little more excersize. :P

That looks like it will do OK to me (me as in NOT an expert). Just make sure you can maitain temp and humidity properly. The plastic plants look cool, but just a heads up, as your snake gets bigger he/she will constantly be pulling them down ;) .

Looks like a neat set up. I don't see any problem with him getting from one hude to the other. 15 bucks seems like a lot for a hide, though. :P

WOW, he/she is gorgeous. The color and the pattern really work well together. That is a very impressive specimen you have there. You should submit that for snake of the month. It will win for sure.
I think the setup you have will work fine. I mean...i think the setup you have is perfect.
As long as you are maintaining proper husbandry otherwise. I dont see the snake having trouble navigating his way from hide to hide.

Is that water dish large enough for the BP to soak in? It looks a bit small to me.

Just curious, why do you recommend it's large enough to soak in? None of mine are offered bowls large enough to soak in. Enclosures treated with PAM before introduction of new snakes - so no mites to cause them to soak. Humidity is perfect, so no need to soak for shedding. Temps are spot on, so no need to soak to cool off. I can't think of a reason that they'd need to soak?

All of my Ball Pythons soak from time to time. They soak just before shedding even though the humidity is adequate. In addition, my Ball Pythons soak before they defecate in the water and the same goes for my Boas. Mites and ticks are certainly a reason why snakes soak, but if snakes lack them then there must be other reasons why they do so.

I don't have a single ball python that soaks.

None of mine soak either and all have perfect, unassisted sheds every time.

Re: * Inside of my Tank *
if everything else is perfect, as many people have said, a soaking bowl is not necessary.
But they wont necessarily HURT an enclosure. i have soaking bowls for my bps but they dont use them.

Re: * Inside of my Tank *
I have only had one ball python ever soak.....but technically I would not call it soaking. I changed hides in my oldest male ball python's enclosure....later that evening I found him 'soaking' in his water bowl....my humidity was great, etc....I figured he did not feel secure in his new hides....so i put the old ones in and never noticed him in the bowl for the rest of the week. To test my theory, I replaced his hides again....and sure enough....he was in his water bowl and hour later....
Just thought I would share.

Re: * Inside of my Tank *
I don't see anything wrong with offering a larger water dish, even if it doesn't soak. I do have several that will soak every so often, not often, but when they feel like it! :)

I think the point here is that _BoidFinatic_ seemed to suggest that the OP's water bowl "should" be large enough to soak in. We're saying - offer one large enough for soaking if you want to, but it's really not needed if everything else is correct (temps, humidity, no external "critters"). ;)
