    big $ BP's
I would love to have the money to go and spend on a lesser platinum or any other of the big $ BP's. however i dont, but i am wondering. Do each of these snakes that cost $10,000 and up sell out year after year?

I am in the process of spending ####.## on a snake. so I would think that with the right market and advertising yea a 25,000.00 snake would sell out. I mean people pay that for dog collors in NYC an L.A so why not an animal

The simple fact that every year, from what I've read, more and more people are getting into reptile keeping and breeding, with a major popularity of ball pythons.

    But I don't know nuffin'...=)

Well somebody must be buying them or why would certain breeders continue to produce them. Way I figure it too if you are Bill Gates or some such and your kid wants a pet snake, you aren't waiting for them to go on sale for $30 down at your local PetCo LOL. (joking, I'm just joking!) Fact is, folks with money like quality and rarity it seems. Why would you spend ungawdly amounts of money on a certain car when any car will get you from point A to point B. Probably because you can afford to own that special vehicle, so why not have it.

Not necessarily a BP, but I have a deposit down on a blackheaded python (aspidites), and he'll end up costing X,YYY.ZZ (itsy bitsy small fry here).

When I agreed to the deal, it made perfect sense, there were about 21 eggs in the incubator, and this breeder is one of the largest in the country.

My attachment was pretty much emotional and seeing the smile on wifie's face when she sees one and holds one.

I almost pooped when I first saw a $500.00 snake, and within a year something approaching 5X that isn't such a big deal anymore.

P.S. Toy Poodle puppies are selling of $1,400.00 each in Indy, so it's all relative.

Big bucks are spent all the time on snakes, whether you consider big bucks for a snake being $500-$1,000-$5,000-$10,000 or $25,000 is a different story. Naturally more snakes (higher quantities) are sold as you come down in price because it opens up that particular snake/morph to a wider range of buyers able to afford or willing to spend that which they are comfortable with spending on a snake.

    Example:

How many of you could and would drop $5000 for an Albino or Pied?

Now, how many would spend $1000 for that same Albino or Pied? My guess would be that more people would be at this level and quite possibly buy more than one (meaning more volume per sale) at this price range Vs $5000 a pop.

You may not have the $5000 on one snake, but you may sell 5 snakes at $1000 a pop more frequently than selling one for $5,000. It may have taken you 1-2-3-6 months to sell that $5000-$10,000 snake Vs moving 2-3 $1000 snakes each week. This is just an example!

Well, given that some people spend say, $20,000 on a wedding dress and $98,000 on the flowers for the wedding, I can see people spending that and more on a snake, no problem. Maybe if you have that much money, I guess it's no big deal to spend that much money, and I've seen some snakes go for 15,000, 20,000. Of course, if I had it, I'd definitely shell it out for some of these gorgeous animals I've been seeing but--that's just me.

Emilio--*grin* agree completely. At least, that's the hope...

toy poodles for that? I can see it for a bigger dog, like a German Shepherd (I'm biased, but...) but those things aren't even friendly! You pet them and they bite you or something...

Also keep in mind that a lot more people get married and more girls dream and want that special event Vs a snake.

A lot more people buy cars and hold it as a status symbol or a reflection of themselves or their needs.

Very few people would not purposely run over a Pied BP or Lucy BP with a lawn mower if they saw one in their yard or chop it in 1/2.
