Jessica,if its a captive hatch it might not prove out to be a pastel.From my understanding just about every morph originated from the wild.Someone please correct me if i am wrong on this.The only way to prove him out is to bred him and see what the offsprings are.He is still a nice looking snake.I hope you have him quarintined(spelling) :worry: .

thanks all Im way to happy about this guy I might buy his brothers too. but one is not eating yet so I dont know if I would risk it. I will have to move them in to the living room and shut off the cooler if I do get them. boy would my hubby be mad :D

I dont have a camra right now. this photo was given to me when I requested one. I had to show you guys! :carrot: Im buying a new camara this weekend... I cant believe that I broke mine ... :ohmygod:

Ok cool....I mean, it looks pastel-ish, the color, blushing, light coloring on the head.....a belly shot should clear it up.

But if you don't pay a pastel price...there's a good chance its a really cool normal.

I agree it looks pastelish,but the price makes me wonder.Dont get me wrong its a nice looking snake.If it proves out in the future then hey thats sweet.Yes a belly shot will make the determination of what it really is.

What do you look for in the belly to say one way or the other.. how does it differ from a normal.. sorry for the dumb question just trying to get stuff straight in my head

Look at the wide white scales on the belly. Also look as the white fading on the back of the head. Another key feature of the pastel is the fading white upper lip. I say the one that Jess has is a pastel :)

Yeah it definately is pastelish and a beauty and has a nice white upper lip... but the pink background should trick your eyes into seeing more pinks in the snake than a neutral background.

well the photos are not taken by me. it was taken by his old owner. when I get my new cam and let him settel in a bit I will post some photos. I asked the guy if i could use his photos to show you guys and he didnt have a problem with it ... said they were my photos now any way LOL. his eyes are not as light as i would like them to be but you cant be 2 picky. :D

Jessica, their eyes tend to lighten up as they get older, if it is in fact a pastel. I mean, there's so much about that snake that screams pastel to me- color, pattern, blushing, white lip; but those are all traits that can be found in normals as well. But, ALL pastels have a clear belly, so that would be the defining aspect of this little guy. Pastel or not, thats an awesome snake.

I recently got two CH females from Ghana and they know what they are doing there so I would assume yours is a true pastel. Congrats he's a beauty!!!

ok here is my question about CH. is it cheaper to get CH babies in "unproven" morphs then it is to get them from proven lines? this little guy is a CH and Im seeing alot of wild looking stuff come from africa. I guess what my question is how much is it costing you all for the ch babies and do theis odd looking "morphs" some times show up in your shipment or do you have to ask for them? looking for a ball park figure.

Hm.. let's say this Is a pastel; and it was CH.. if Jessica bred it and produced a line of pastels eventually, wouldn't she have the right to say they were her line of pastels then? Don't see why not....

well evey one was asking for belly shots to see if he was a true pastel. I dont know if he is.. he is CH so nothing is know about the mom or dad. Im still trying to get this little guy paid off so I can keep him. I'm going to be posting a thread in a moment on "proper pricing". lol I'm having some problems and need your guy/girls help.
