Here's to You!
Just something that's been on my mind lately. None of us are islands, rarely do we indulge in this hobby and love of herps alone or if we feel we do...do we really? Most of us know each other to some degree through this lovely forum but we forget or don't know about the folks that are behind the scenes.
So here's to all those spouses, boyfriends, girlfriends, family and friends who even if they think we are nuts - they let us be nuts.
Here's to the spouse or partner that checks the eggs when you can't, who works those extra hours to pay for that snake you MUST have or cleans the tubs with you long into a hot summer night.
Here's to the spouse that doesn't like snakes but loves you.
Here's to that person that sits with you trying to budget in another morph purchase this year or at least doesn't harrass you for buying a new snake rather than a new couch.
Here's to the partner that spends long hours talking about dreams and hopes, scribbling punnet squares, arguing combinations of this and that.
Here's to the friends who listen to you babble on about hets and still call you on the weekend to hang out. Here's to the friends that understand when you can't hang out because you think your snake is ovulating.
Here's to the parents that understand their childs fascination with herps even if they don't like them one bit. Here's to the parents that do share it and find a new way to bond through a mutual hobby.
To the unknown of you that support the folks that are the screen names I know...thank you all for what you do! :)

Beautiful and true! Thank you for expressing that, Jo. We need to remember those we too often take for granted.

Re: Here's to You!
Awwwwwww (isn't that like the 10th Awwwwww, you've gotten out of me today? LOL).
I just read that to Karl - I think he really appreciated that! Because he's the one that doesn't love snakes (held J-Lo on a dare and almost vomited from the creeps - it was really sad, especially the shakes he got when I placed the little ball in his hands and warned him not to drop her), yet doesn't complain one bit when a new one enters the house!
He's fine with them around him, just can't touch them.
Yeah, my man is a snake wimp, but he's MY snake wimp! LOL;)

I need a spouse like that. Mine likes to nag at me for buying new snakes, yell at me for spending our money, and thinks they're a waste of time.

Re: Here's to You!
Here's to you pain pills! For keeping me cleaning tubs even when my back says no more!
Seriously, my fiance puts up with a whole lot. Not just with the snakes but having to live with and put up with me and my hyperactivity.

Here's to my boss. For not telling the IP guy to block all non-work related internet traffic. For giving me 3 days to do a project that should only take 3 minutes. Here's to my office's server, for allowing me to use as much bandwidth as I desire when I should just be punching in numbers in Excel. This bud's for you!

Re: Here's to You!
lol; that's awesome! I read it to Mark and he laughed. See, he likes the snakes, and kept many as a boy, but they really are mine and I do all the work (and I am fine with this.) He is fine for handling them for about 10 minutes but that's about it; and he loves feeding time!
I love my Marky for putting up with me, the snakes.. horses.. art supplies.. but you know how it goes; we work our butts off so we get to enjoy a little bit of life!

Re: Here's to You!
Awwwh, what a sweet thread! Right on, Jo!
Thank you Karen! (Though I know I've gotten her as into them as I am, nearly!) And to my family, who generally instantly regret asking how the animals are doing because I tell them... at great length. Especially my Mom, who's completely squicked by the snakes but supports me anyway, and will continue to visit my snake ridden home... as long as I don't get into collecting big hairy spiders, lol!

Same here - some days I seem to spend ALL my time on herp-related stuff and in total do about an hour's work ....
Also here's to hubby who HATES snakes but is now considering building an extension to our house so we can put in a herp room :D Mind you, he came with me to a breeders once and his eyes were popping at the money morphs bring in ;)

Re: Here's to You!
Wow Sue an addition to the house just for your snakes and he doesn't even like snakes. You got a winner of a hubby there hon!

Re: Here's to You!
Here's to my honey and best friend. Rick thinks I'm insane, even before the complete 180 on snakes (I used to hyperventilate just thinking about touching one). =)
Ooh, off topic! Hey Sheree, I saw a...um...bunny like Unut (I can't remember the breed name) at the pet shop this weekend, white with black eyes! S/he was so cuuuute! I thought of you and Karen and little Unut. =)

Re: Here's to You!

Not just snakes - I think the fact that the new enclosure for my sav taking up half a room might have something to do with it too ... ;)

Awwh, a little Hotot bunny! Or eyeliner bunnies as I like to call them, lol. Technically Unut is a hotot mix, since he's got the black ears and isn't pure white other than the eyeliner. Love that breed! :D Killer in person, aren't they? SO cute!

Re: Here's to You!
Couldn't have said it better. Kelly always offers to buy me snakes. She does't really care about them.

Re: Here's to You!
My husband REALLY doesn't like animals, but he'll take care of mine when I'm away. He's wonderful!
